"Lots of Belly Laughs…"
Laughed until I cried at some of the anecdotes in here, but it isn't completely anecdotal, there is tons of good advice too. I found the toilet training section particularly useful, although I have to admit I havent actually tried the advice yet. It loses a star though, for the section on going back to work. Depressingly, yet another book that assumes that stay at home Dads are a rarity and it will be the mother deciding whether or not to go back to work. Mumsnet, deeply disappointed, I expected more from you. Stay at home Dads are far from rare in our circle, and even if they were, its hardly a useful, inclusive attitude to treat them as the exception. Both parents together need to decide if one of them will stay at home, or they will hire someone (be it nanny or nursery). We have moved on from the 1950s ladies!Read moreLess

This is such a good book, I cannot recommend it enough. It is obvious this is 'real' advise from experience with options for what to do which feels much more realistic. And the anecdotes will have you crying with laughter. It really makes you see are not alone. Best parenting book I've read by far.Read moreLess

I have only read 20 pages but laughed so hard up to page 16 I was crying and had a belly ache which, when 6 months pregnant, wasn't that funny in the end - I tried to read more when I calmed down but kept creasing up - such wonderful humour, and so nice to be able to say "I thought that too" wow I'm not that weird after all. Really great tips. Made me come and log on and join the site. Wish I had read the baby version Read moreLess

I was given this book by a friend known as 'The Oracle' for all the wise suggestions she's passed on to me, and this book is the best present I've ever had.

It doesn't promise all the answers, but it does give a lot of suggestions and, most importantly, a feeling that you're not alone.Read moreLess

Brilliant, hilarious, reassuring (yes, there are mothers out there having a worse time than me!) and very, very useful. Have bored friends raving about the book, am using the pasta reward jar to good effect and am amazed that there are so many easy tips from others I can use on my own kids. Hurrah all round!Read moreLess

This book is brilliant - it hits all the key issues that toddlers throw at mums and dads and gives humerous, practical, implementable advice. The reader always feels they have options and the real life advice from mums/dads not people who have studied children is invaluable. Thanks MumsnetRead moreLess
