"Growing boys is better than fixing men"
That's how this book starts and it pretty much sums up what its all about. Its a fabulous book which will enlighten and support parents who are seeking confirmation that boys are boys, are rough and tumble (mostly) and need and thrive with clear concise instructions and positive affirmations that they have the ability to be men!
We bought this book when my boy was born and as a mother who came from an all girl family, I found it very helpful to understand how this little fella would most likely explore life and how I could support him through these explorations. I can also say it was rather enlightening in ways I could also support my husband who greatly appreciated it too!
The book is broken into three parts - Preschool years, Middle years and Teenagers, plus sections specifically for mums, dad's and solo parenting.
Out of the parenting books I have read, this by far is the best one as its factual, interesting and isn't condescending. It also steers away from the 'wrap them in cotton wool' philosophy which I appreciated.
It encourages us parents to embrace the challenges and opportunities which come with having boys as lets face it, there is no time for quiet little tea parties when there are super heros waiting to fight for the good guys.
I hope you enjoy it.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
