"Very good psychological mystery…"
When Alice arranges to meet an internet date for the first time she can't wait to tell her friend Rachel all about it. After all, the two women met on-line and are now best friends, even though Alice lives in the UK and Rachel in Australia. But when Alice vanishes on the day of the date, Rachel is so concerned she flies to England to track her down. However as a stranger in the UK, with the police reluctant to search for Alice and with nobody to help her, who can Rachel trust in her search for her best friend?
I very much enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to fans of Nicci French, Sabine Durrant and Colette McBeth. The story was gripping and I didn't guess the twists and turns in the believable plot. I liked the characters and with almost every chapter I had a new theory as to what (or who) might have happened to Alice.
I enjoyed the exploration of friendship made via the internet as I believe it can lead to as close and rewarding a relationship as seeing someone every day can. I would love to read more by this author and look forward to her second book following this excellent debut.
