A gripping story deftly told.
By far the darkest of Faulks' works, and quite possibly the best.Read moreLessMumsnetter Sazisi

Engleby is a brilliant student who is a misfit. This book is an insight into his mind. The story that unfolds is seen through his eyes and this gives a chilling edge to it. Much of the book is set in Cambridge in the 1970s. I grew up in Cambridge and the uncannily accurate and vivid descriptions of the city at that time brought back many memories. I highly recommend this book -it is a gripping read. I especially recommend it to those who know Cambridge and want a walk down memory lane.
