I have just given my fourteen-year-old daughter a copy of this book, a formative text for me when I was growing up. Wonderful that Ellie loves it as much as I did - - such a brilliant book about female creativity and self-expression.

My most favourite book. Such an original piece of writing that details Winterson's understanding and accpetance of her sexuality as she grows up. A fairytale within a tale that is just so well written - you have to read this book!
