Chinese Cinderella Adeline Yen Mah

I thought it was AMAZING!! and couldn't put the book down!!

Being a bit of a bookworm I've read a stack of books in my time - but this book was by far the best. From the outset I knew i'd like it (I know it sounds strange but i can usually tell by the book cover) and it DIDN'T disappoint.

It was a sad story though of an unwanted Chinese little girl; her family see her as a curse and bad luck because her Mother died whilst giving birth to her, add the fact she's a girl (we are in China here where boys are the preferred sex) and then comes the wicked step-mother!

Her Father re-marries a dreadful woman. One part where she gets a little pet duckling i found heartbreaking and won't ever forget it (animal lovers out there beware of this part) but it's utterly compelling. You get the feeling you are actually at this girl's side living her life alongside her. As I say, I just couldn't put it down - I HIGHLY recommend it!!.
