Piece of Cake Cupcake Brown

An amazing story of a young girl who finds her mother dead one morning and her entire life changes; her biological father fights for and wins custody and places her immediately to a foster carer who abuses and starves her, leading her to complete dependence on drugs and alcohol from the age of 11 to block out her own pain. This story is so inspirational and shows just what a human being can do to change their life around, from crack addict to successful lawyer with a lot of determination. It's a heart-warming, funny and sometimes utterly shocking story of a woman who made it through so much.

Was good but depressing and we read this in comparison with Maya Angelou who we agreed came out better and tougher

It's the most challenging, upsetting, thought provoking, uplifting and inspirational book I've ever read. Everyone should own a copy and everyone should refer to it when they're feeling overwhelmed by all the things they can't achieve. It's also a true testament to the value that a handful of decent people can add to your life.
