"Engaging and moving read about identity and relationships…"
Salvage is a great read. The opening chapters rather hammered home the contrasting lives of separated siblings Cass (adopted by a Conservative MP & his wife, a high achieving straight A student) and her brother Aiden (illiterate, insecure and a product of a neglectful care system), but once I was halfway through the pace had picked up and the book was hard to put down.
There are many different relationships that are explored over the course of the book, and whilst intimacy and abuse are a part of the experiences of the main characters, the author Keren David, handles both extremely well, without making this an uncomfortable read for the younger teen.
I was genuinely moved by the closing chapters and found it impossible to put the book down until I had finished it. Definitely worth reading.Read moreLess
"A touching, emotive read.…"
A wonderfully written book about family relationships and how we can overcome our pasts and take control of our present and future. A story full of hope and the good things that can happen when we have hope.Read moreLess
