"This story has to be read. It is hard going…"
This story has to be read. It is hard going because of the content and the outcome. As someone said to me it's like reading the bible and you know the outcome that Jesus dies in the end. Giselle and June are two incredible women. Where they get their strength from God only knows. The book is so well written and the parallel lives of Giselle and June is so amazingly similar. If you think you have problems this book will knock them into a cocked hat. Once you start reading this book you won't be able to put it down.Read moreLess
"This amazing book tells the story of two mothers who,…"
This amazing book tells the story of two mothers who, in the same tragic weekend, had their children taken from them in the worst possible way: murdered by their own fathers.
In case you have a stereotype in your mind, this is not just a misery memoir.
Of course, it charts the horror of the deaths of little Paul and Jay-Jay, and 'woman-child' Michelle and cheeky Ryan.
But it does more - it will stop you judging the naive and the abused, and show how the 'family annihilator' slowly takes control.
It will make you cry and cling to your own children all the more tightly.
But somehow, throughout this terrible story, the mothers retain a dignity and hope that carries you with them through what should be unendurable.
Giselle and June have had the bravery to talk about their horror, out loud, to other people.
Co-authors Marion and Jim have somehow managed to make the unimaginable readable, and give some sort of purpose to telling their story.
It is exquisitely written, touching yet never wallows in grief; horrific, but always human.
And the interjections of criminal psychologist Ian Stephen remind you this is real.
It is almost your duty to read this book.Read moreLess
"I sat up most of the night reading the book…"
I sat up most of the night reading the book Beyond all Evil. I could not put it down. I was compelled to keep reading.
This book is a must read for everyone, we really need to be educated on this and to be aware and watchful about what goes on around us. It could save a life. The book's intention is to give people an understanding of what it is like to be trapped in a toxic relationship- and how it can lead to devastating tragedy.
A true and terrifying story, one that could happen to someone you know, the bogey man is sometimes a member of the family and not a stranger. How frightening that thought is.
Everyone of us knows someone or has known someone in a relationship we know is not good for them yet they will not or cannot listen.
Reading the book, I felt as if I was in the story, watching from the sidelines as these two relationships began.
Anyone who has concerns about a woman being abused or controlled by a partner should read this book and then do what you can to help them in some way.
It really could save a life!
