"Great present for anyone who enjoys cooking.…"
28-Nov-2012
Recently bought a copy for my husband who does the cooking in our house and he loved it and we have enjoyed many an Alex Mackay Dinner. I was so pleased I purchased a copy for my Mother in law who has every cookery book except this and she was thrilled. The nice thing is you don’t have to be entertaining guests just have a family dinner and you will be amazed how simple the recipes are,and how scrummy.
It is exactly Everybody Everyday.Read moreLessMumsnetter helenruck

""An inspirational book which will ensure that family meals are never dull"…"

This is the book I wish I'd had when Alex MacKay was young. Now he's grown up and has his own children, as his mother I'm thrilled at the way he involves them with every aspect of cooking: working in the vegetable garden, shopping, decision-making, preparation and presentation as well as the joys of tasting. This book, for all of us who cook at home, brings together his cooking, teaching and writing skills in a book for all the family to use with enthusiasm. From the response I've seen to date, others are excited by Everybody Everyday too: Delia Smith, Raymond Blanc, and the early reviewer who supplied my snapshot (http://www.oxfordtimes.co.uk/leisure/9683536.Kitchen_ace_Alex_s_recipes_to_inspire/). I love Alex's website-in-progress that includes advice about cooking with and for kids (http://www.everybodyeveryday.co/everyday-cooking-with-kids/) and expands on the book in other ways, and his offer of an emailed short video message when you buy a signed book: http://www.everybodyeveryday.co/buy-books-bags-aprons/, the sense that here's a shared family enterprise where the work of cooking happens with pleasure and humour. As for the recipes themselves, I haven't tried them yet, but I like the way every recipe is easy to adjust and the way that they encourage versatility and flexibility on a daily basis. What do you think? I know Alex (@alexmackaycooks on Twitter) would love to know, and I would too (@7R4SM)!
