"This book was bought as a birthday present to one"
04-Nov-2011
This book was bought as a birthday present to one of my children. The recipes are healthy, easy and cheap to make. each recipe has 4 pages which are: interesting facts about the country, a photo about the country, then images of the kid/s cooking the recipe, then a final picture of the finished dish.
We are working our way through the dishes and so far have cooked 4 and the first one which is the Russian Salad has been our favourite - I think it might have something to do with the colourful look of it. I think the trick to this dish is not to overcook the vegetables so that they are still a little bit crunchy when you bite them.
The instructions for what to do is very clear and this makes it very different from other cook books for children that we have.
There are also smoothies at the end of the book which can be made instead of an unhealthy desert.
I find it useful to let the children read the facts whilst the food is being cooked to keep them entertained. There are also short poems in the book one is "Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last fish has been caught, only then will you realise that money cannot be eaten"
I give this book 10 out of 10, not just for the yummy food but also for education purposes.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
