"Agree that this book was a bit disappointing. Some ideas"
07-Feb-2010
Agree that this book was a bit disappointing. Some ideas are simple but obvious (chopped fruit). Others are very fiddly and time-consuming (baby samosas!). Few good ideas, but not the book on finger foods for weaning and beyond that I'd hoped it would be...

"I was really disappointed with this book. It seems"
06-Mar-2009
I was really disappointed with this book. It seems to have lots of obvious things - like cut food into 'fingers'!! - and lots of fiddly things like mash it up, roll in breadcrumbs and fry etc; also a bit snooty about things like bought breadsticks. However, a couple of things were worthwhile like the vegetable rissoles (though took quite some time to make). Definitely not a 'fast food' book!

Some great recipes that my whole family have enjoyed (esp. the mini quiches, muffins and the chocolate brownies!). Clear instructions and advises on freezing etc. Shame there are no pictures/photos to inspire!

"easy recipes full of good things - also guides you"
31-Jul-2008
easy recipes full of good things - also guides you to what can be frozen. The recipes are also easy to adapt to what you have in. There isn't too much to do for each recipe so you don't get put off. Even my fussy dd will eat things I cook from this book.

I bought this when my almost toothless daughter started rejecting anything that came on a spoon. I tried a few of the recipes which weren't bad but, to be honest, I found it more useful for sparking ideas of what I could try rather than for following recipes slavishly. Not a bad book though, if you are stuck for ideas for younger little ones.

"Bought this when DD2 was following DD1 in stubborness over"
22-May-2008
Bought this when DD2 was following DD1 in stubborness over feeding herself at a very young age (8 months). Didn't actually rate it for babies at all - had worked out roasted vegetables and bread for myself. However, there was some nice if slightly hard work ideas in for toddlers which I was able to use for DD1's 2nd birthday party. Overall, wouldn't reccomend it as a buy for kids wanting to self-feed from very early on.

"A great book with lots of ideas. The recipes are"
22-May-2008
A great book with lots of ideas. The recipes are easy to make so your toddler can help you and all the ingredients are easy to find and keep in your cupboard. The scones, cheese straws and mini pizzas are a real hit in our house. These recipes are available in lots of other books, but this book brings together lots of basic recipes in one place. I am always referring to this book and wouldn't be without it. Great for babies, toddlers and older children too.

"I tried a couple of recipes from this book and"
15-May-2008
I tried a couple of recipes from this book and they were very mediocre and completely rejected by my children. I chucked the book in a charity bag. I finally realised that the best finger foods don't require a recipe, my kids certainly prefer things like cheese or fruit all on its own.

"Loads of good ideas for finger food if your baby"
18-Feb-2008
Loads of good ideas for finger food if your baby will not let you get a spoon in any more! Lots of tips for healthy stuff as well as a few muffins and cakes too. Also, you can freeze a lot of the stuff and also adapt recipes to use up leftovers too.
