Good Housekeeping - Family Meals For A Fiver!, by (missing)

I honestly can't praise this cookbook highly enough! I bought it just after moving in with my better half, shortly before our DD was born, and it's been a godsend.

It tells you everything, from the most basic of basics (how to cook pasta, for example!) to how to joint a chicken. It teaches about how to shop thriftily, and make ingredients go further (always useful in these tough economic times!).

The recipes are delicious, easy to follow and varied; soups, meat, veggie and puds are all there. Only slight flaw has to be the number of salad recipes- it's salad, not 'rocket' science! *Chuckle* :-)

All in all, a great book for a clueless beginner.
