This is the only book that I could read from cover to cover time and time again. I love the classic blend of romance and tragedy with the rags to riches element. My favourite book of all time.Read moreLess

I have read this book so many times, and love giving it as a gift to my nieces and god daughters when they reach the right age to be able to appreciate it. There is something new to find each time I read it and I enjoy analysing Jane's actions and decisions. a masterpiece.Read moreLess

"Jane Eyre is the ultimate love story. it really has…"
Jane Eyre is the ultimate love story. it really has it all- a heroine we can all relate to (plain, skint, but with an iron will and heaps of intelligence), an amazing journey of self discovery (Jane gradually becoming more aware and self confident as time goes by), an incredibly sexy hero, who against all odds falls for Jane, tragedy, despair, and redemption.
better than it all, it is the passion and ardour with which the story is told. I re-read Jane Eyre everytime i feel a bit down and it never fails to make me dream, energise me and lift my spirits!Read moreLess
"One of the definitions of a classic novel is one…"
One of the definitions of a classic novel is one that stands the test of time. Not only has this been a best-seller for over a century, but it also stands the test of time in a reader's lifetime. You can read this as a child, and identify with the protagonist as a youngster; read it as a young woman and understand the emotions that Jane experiences as a young woman. Read it in middle age, and reel at the truth of the passion in Jane's relationship with Rochester, and the veracity of Bronte's portraits of the men and women in the novel. Jane is a fantastic narrator, with an unerring eye for detail, a sense of detached irony and justice. She may be a Victorian creation, but she is still great company even in the 21st century.Read moreLess

I never quite 'got' Jane Eyre at school - why does she end up going back to the blind
ugly old bore?? I clearly had a few hormones missing at the time...Re-reading it more recently I just love the complexity of the realtionship between Jane and Rochester. The way in which they manipulate each other is fascinating and frustrating. Best thing about it though, is Jane's character - stoical without being too saintly and definitely only prepared to act on her own terms. definitely well worth another read.Read moreLess

A wonderful read - I have read many books in my book group but when I re-read this classic it was way ahead of any of the modern fiction we had read. If you havent read it since school then I definitely recommend you read it again !Read moreLess
