My son likes dinosaurs and space - and now he doesn't have to choose (his words). These books manage to entertain a 5 year old with an 8 year old reading age and also 9 year old reluctant readers, whilst having appropriate content for both. My only criticism would be there are not enough of them!

My son started reading these books aged 6 and I credit them for helping him to discover just how much fun reading is. Dinosaurs and space is a great combination for small boys, and the books are just the right length for younger readers. Now aged 8 he has moved on to reading longer books than these, but still loves the Astrosaurs series and has to have the latest one when it is published.

Lots of people say what a great book for boys. My DD loved it too!
This made a fantastic change for our 7 yr old. Not a rainbow fairy or perfect princess in sight. If you have DDs, don't think the Astrosaurs are just for boys as the girls will enjoy the same humour just as much.Read moreLessMumsnetter Lemontart

I agree with all of the other reviews. A great book for young boys who are just starting to read on their own. My son definitely went off books for a while but as soon as he has finished one title, he has to go and buy another with his pocket money and he would walk along reading them to himself. I am more than happy to spend money on books if if keeps his interest up. A bit of toilet humour in them which will appeal to boys.

My 9 year old son (Year 4) was only reading comics and non fiction reference books and I wanted him to read more fiction (egged on by the school of course). A friend in Wales has a 10 year old son who recommended this series of 12 books. They are excellent adventures! So suitable for a 9 year old boy! Basically the dinosaurs did not become extinct, they moved to outer space. The books chart various adventures.

A fanatastic series of chapter boys books in a market oversaturated with books for girls. Dinosaurs in Outer Space..good against evil, usually the plant eating astrosaurs against a variety of unsavory carnivores..what more could they want! I have read this series to my 2 boys 6+7 for the last year and they love them and eagerly await the next book. The books have reasonably large type and chapters that are short enough to read one a night. Simple but effective line drawings are peppered throughout the book. My eldest can now read these alone - they're fantastic for encouraging boys to read for enjoyment.

A superb set of books (well my 6.5 year old DS thought so anyway!). A mixture of adventure, space and dinosaurs - what more could anyone ask for! Split into easy to read chunks, these are great for encouraging independent reading.
