Comments from other Mumsnetters:
"This is a brilliant introduction to Maisy Mouse. Bright simple illustrations and easy flaps to lift for little fingers". "I bought my daughter this book for her first birthday and it's been a favourite ever since". "We love Maisy and this is a great book for smaller children who love playing peekaboo. Lift the flaps are a great way of introducing small children to books". "Do buy the hardbacked version - the flaps will not be torn off and it will last you so much longer".Read moreLessMumsnetter RachelMumsnet

"Where is Maisy? is a lovely book which my 13…"

Where is Maisy? is a lovely book which my 13 month old daughter appreciates all the more because she knows the central character, Maisy, from the TV.
It's all about finding Maisy in her hiding place and my daughter loves to lift the flaps to see if Maisy is underneath. She still hasn't grasped the book yet and gets quite annoyed when she can't find Maisy sometimes but this just makes her all the more determined to lift the flap on each page.
As we open the book we are faced with the question 'Maisy is going to hide, can you find her?' and this sets the pace for the book. You can either read the simple text on each page or make up your own story to fit the pictures, 'is Maisy hiding behind a bush?' can be jazzed up in all kinds of ways if you put your mind to it!
Maisy is a sweet little mouse who you cannot fail to like, my daughter loves looked at Maisy on the cover of the book and will sit and hold it just looking for a few minutes before handing me the book to read. The illustrations are brilliant in that they are made to look like a five year old has drawn them, I think this makes the pictures appeal more to little people because they are simple enough for them to look at without being overloaded with detail.
The only problem I have with this book is that it's aimed at very young babies and toddlers but instead of making it a board book, it's a hardcover with card pages which are fine at the moment for my daughter but as she's getting rougher with the flaps I've a feeling they are not going to be securely attached for much longer. Also when she puts the pages in her mouth they get wet so they will definitely crumble with time I'm sure.
My daughter loves this book though and her reaction to it is always good whenever I get it off the bookshelf. It's an interactive book because the flaps are so tempting that she will always lift them even if she's not concentrating too much on the actual story. She laughs at different things in the book so I know that as basic as it might seem, there is something in there to spark a young babys imagination.
You can buy Where is Maisy? from anywhere that sells children's books, I've seen it in Sainsbury's and bought my own copy from Woolworths forRead moreLessMumsnetter iamjoy

This is a great book for babies. It has bright colours, robust flaps and a character they've probably seen before - or will at least most likely see again!
