Tunnels, by Roderick Gordon & Brian Williams

My (sensitive!) 10 year old found this a little scary at first but enjoyed the story once she got into the book

DD enjoyed this book. I had mixed feelings about it. I found it a bit boring at the start but the rea=st was okay. Found the ending freaky when Rebecca was singing 'Sunshine'.

I loved this book and so did ds (10). It was a real gripping "can't book the book down" thriller of a plot. I would recommend it to fluent readers aged 9+.

Having said that many of the students in my reading group at school didn't particularly enjoy it.

Tunnels was billed by the bookshop as 'what to read next when you've finished Harry Potter'. I read it first, then my daughter (7) read it. We both thought it was a pretty good read. Some of the scenes in the middle of the book were pretty gruesome and unless your child is pretty unshockable I wouldn't recommend it until age 10. Having said that, dd couldn't put the book down and would like it to become a series of books. Next Harry Potter - I'm not sure....
