"An excellent board book…"
I had this book as a child and it was one of my favourites. It was one of the first board books I bought for me to read to DD. It's a book that she has enjoyed over time and will develop in the future.
From being able to help mama turn the pages to pointing at items on the pages, now she's saying what they are.
A book that will be treasured for generations.Read moreLess

My daughter and I give this 10/10.
I bought this book because I remembered it as on of my favourites when I was young. The illustrations fire my daughter's imagination with all the colours.
It is a really fun interactive read and is great for the developing vocabulary. My daughter loves counting the number of apples, plums etc that the caterpillar eats and really enjoys reciting what he eats on the Saturday.

"Both DD's and I love this book, as well as…"
Both DD's and I love this book, as well as DH, as it is short enough for us not to mind reading it twice but long enough for them, plus since a very small age they have been playing with the holes in the book and turning the different size pages.
Do not but the paper copy for an under 3 though, always the hardback <speaks from bitter experience>Read moreLess

"Without a doubt my daughters favourite book, it's also deceptively…"
Without a doubt my daughters favourite book, it's also deceptively educational!
We read this book every bed time, normally 2-3 times a night, and sometimes in the day time too, any suggestion of another bedtime book is met with protest and she always goes down in her cot asking for "more 'pillar, more 'pillar"!
My daughter isn't even 2 yet and she can already count to 10, and recognise pretty much any fruit, and knows all about the sun and the moon, and I would put that largely down to this book (she probably has a complex understanding of metamorphosis too by now, considering how much I have to read this! :p)
The illustrations are beautiful (as with any eric carle book), and comes in board and paperback variety (we have both) so no need to worry about little hands tearing the pages.
This should be the first book you buy your child, it's completely indispensible, and has been loved by generations.Read moreLess

"I seem to be the only person who thinks this…"
I seem to be the only person who thinks this book is awful!! I am 40 and can remember it at my own library. The pictures and the font are dated, my 17 mth old hates it,...there is very little in it for him to look and point at...and nothing for me to build a story around. THe idea of the holes is fun but, they are way too small for him to put his finger through.Read moreLess

This is a great book for all ages because as a baby it can be bought as hardback so it is fairly robust. At the moment i have managed to read it with my 8 month old and my 22 month old. The 8 month old just wants to grab it and the 22 month old now likes to listen to the story.
