The Very Busy Spider, by Eric Carle

We have been reading this book to our daughter since she was just 4 months old. She is now 21 months and still loves it! She has always loved tracing the web with her finger and feeling around for the spider with her eyes closed! ;-) All of the different animals represented in this book are great too, and she enjoys making the animal sounds with each turn of the page. Another winner from Eric Carle!!

As always with Eric Carle, his nature detail and his painting are outstanding. A simple tale of a spider building a web in a farm whilst the other animals try to encourage the spider away from her task.

DD1 loved practising her animal sounds when we read this together and now she 'reads' it to DD2. The touchy-feely spider's web is a great way to get them zipping through the book too. So much so that DD1 is constantly pointing them out around the house (err, not so great obviously!) Still a firm favourite in our household.

This is a lovely book by the same author of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. The illustrations are similar in style, and it also has a tactile spider's web for your child to feel. It is filled with farm animals so great for practising animal noises!
