The Recruit, by Robert Muchamore

These books are the business! Muchamore knows exactly what teenagers want and gives it to them. These are the books that are read at school by children who don't otherwise read. These are the books swapped between themselves in a black market kind of trade.

If you censor books you may not approve of the content (sex, drugs, violence, etc). Muchamore himself suggests that nothing in the books is any worse than Eastenders, so that's a benchline for you.

Personally I don't allow ds1 (10) to watch Eastenders, but he's read all the Cherub books twice and is eagerly awaiting the next one.

Enjoyed by my son aged 14 who now wants to read the rest of the series.
