The Elephant and the Bad Baby, by Elfrida Vipont

This is a brilliant board book. The elephant meets a bad baby (unsurprisingly!) and they go to a different shop on each page stealing things, and then going 'rumpeta rumpeta rumpeta' down the road. My daughter loves the pattern of the story (each page the list of people chasing the elephant and the bad baby gets longer by one). The illustrations by Raymond Briggs are just gorgeous, in a old fashioned way.
