John Gets Ready for School, by Joanne Zellweger

My daughter stumbled across this book on a visit to a local bookstore when she was attracted by the colorful front cover. Being too young herself to understand what a cochlear implant, or even deafness is (she is only 3) she absolutely adores this book for its beautiful illustrations and the entertaining dialogue. As a parent, I am delighted with the way it uses long words, which helps to stretch my daughters vocabulary.

The author has done a fantastic job in creating the awareness of cochlear implants, whilst finally creating a positive role model for disabled children.

A wonderful book and a must read for all young children (and parents).
