"This is a hilarious, light hearted book, written by Roald…"

This is a hilarious, light hearted book, written by Roald Dahl that will appeal to both sexes.
George's Marvellous Medicine, is about a boy called George who has collected ingredients to use for a revenge potion to be replaced with the one which his Grandmother will drink. What George hopes to achieve I am not entirely sure, it could well be that George is simply trying to top-off his old Gran as she is so grumpy. We learn soon off that George's Gran is not in fact a nice, kind, granny, but rather more the cruel, evil sort that you don't come across very often.
The story continues with George's Gran growing to absurd heights, and George feeding as many of the animals around the farm as he can with the special 'medicine', so that the farm will be able to earn more money. When he is asked to make more medicine, he can't remember he placed in the potion, and so he cannot repeat it, or change it to make his Gran smaller again. When George and his father finally do come up with another 'medicine' it shrinks his Gran to tiny sizes. You will have to read the book to see what happens. I love it and would recommend it to all readers out there.Read moreLessMumsnetter motormouth

A very entertaining read for both me and my 5 year old son. Funny and lively. We both looked forward to his night time read and it was a good transition book from large picture story books to chapter books.
