"This is the first in a truly magical set of…"
24-Jul-2008
This is the first in a truly magical set of books. Everything in Moominland is always very slightly surreal, and the writing is compelling - droll, wry humour and beautiful description.
The writing is captivating, and the reader is never talked down to. It's a children's book but it has all the values of an adult's; the writing is never trite, and neither are the storylines.
There are many themes within the book which address the fears which children have; friendship, separation, loss as well as love, bravery and loyalty. But even without those themes, this is a delightful adventure story which will have children alternately laughing with delight and wide-eyed with suspense - and always begging for more.Read moreLessMumsnetter WigWamBam
