Charlie Cook's Favourite Book, by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler

Excellent story in rhyme with lovely characters, and great illustrations

My 3 year old loves this book. The illustrations are fantastic. It is a pleasure to read at bedtime.

This book in rhyme is by the same team that did the Gruffalo. It's a series of cleverly linked rhymes about different books and the characters in them (pirates, animals, thrillers, spacemen etc). Eventually we learn that one of the character's favourite books is about Charlie Cook! So we end with all the characters joining Charlie in his living room. Lots of detail, good rhymes, good read-aloud and lots to think about.
