"Perfect book for teens, pre-teens and adults about acceptance, friendship and family life.…"
Wonder is the story about Auggie, a young boy with such a terrible facial abnormality he says of himself 'I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse'. We follow Auggie as he makes the transition from being home-schooled to starting state school; a transition that has huge repercussions on himself and all those around him.
The story is told in turn by Auggie, his friends and his family and is deeply moving and will stay with you for years to come. My daughter (13) read this first: 'The best book I've EVER read', passed it on to her (cynical) brother (14) who read in one sitting, to myself and then I read to my ten year old again earlier this year. I can honestly say bedtime has never been so dramatic: He was fiercely angry one eve, shouting at me for reading it to him, punching the air with joy the next and laughing with tears in his eyes (as I wept alongside him) another.
Wonder is a raw, emotional and wonderful tale of a little boy desperately wanting to be normal in a world that sees him as anything but ordinary.Read moreLess
