"A funny and well-written book for children…"
Legend of Frog by Guy Bass is a very funny and well written book aimed at primary school readers. Frog is a young amphibian who believes he is a prince and his adventures encompass a pair of catastrophe pants, a sheep as a faithful steed and an alien invasion.
The writing is charming and the use of Frog's own written narrative makes the story feel authentic. The language and imagery will appeal to younger readers and the humour is well placed throughout the text. The illustrations are imaginative and add to the story. A lovely book and a good start to a series.Read moreLess
"Very funny, great illustrations…"
My nephew has also read this and kindly written a review:
The Legend of Frog is the story of a frog who goes on an amazing adventure to the end of the world. Little does he know he is about to come face to face with an alien invasion, a wicked wizard and a picky princess! I really like the hero, he is not very clever but hilariously funny. The book is written well with good illustrations and I recommend it for boys from about 8 to 11 years. Some girls might like it too!Read moreLess
"Fun and entertaining for 8-10 year olds…"
A fun read full of great cheeky one liners like, "You will never leave my side....not even when I need a wee." Story is suitable for boys and girls between the ages of 8-10, it's a mix of adventure, fairy tail and sci-fi. the book looks inviting with the edges of the pages looking like parchment and the illustrations are fantastic. Every child should have this on their bookshelfRead moreLess
"A fairy tale, science fiction, fantasy and comedy all rolled into one.…"
The Legend of Frog is a fantastic read for youngsters, I'd say it is probably best for seven to ten year old children. The main character is, of course, Frog who happens to be a prince. The Legend of Frog is the first of what will be three books and it's a mixture of a fairy tale, science fiction, fantasy and comedy.
The Legend of Frog, written by Guy Bass, is action packed the entire way through as Frog travels to the end of the world for proof that he is indeed a prince. There's a princess who tries to thwart Frog's attempts at proving his princeliness, a sheep that is quite a hindrance too, there's an alien invasion and so many more adventures along the way.

I particularly like the artwork in The Legend of Frog, to me it is just begging to be coloured in though I don't suppose you're meant to! My seven year old daughter really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read the next two, my other two daughters are both keen to read it as well.Read moreLess
""The Legend Of Frog" by Guy Bass - a light, fun & humorous read for kids.…"
"The Legend Of Frog" by Guy Bass is a light, fun & humorous read, infusing fantasy and fairy tale, with a dollop of science fiction added for good measure.
The book is presented in a delightful way, with a red foil-embossed cover, crisp, cartoon illustrations by Dynamo, diary/scrap-book extracts, and a 'parchment-like' page border design. Similar to books like "The Spiderwick Chronicles", "The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid", and "The Great Pet-Shop Panic", these design elements significantly enhance the reading experience.
The text itself is, at times, very immature - but in a good way. After all, there's no doubt that this book is intended for adolescents, containing the sophomoric humour of modern-day kids. The first book in an intended trilogy, the story is perfect for reluctant young readers of both gender, and will no doubt leave them wanting more.

)Read moreLess
