"Classic pony stories--updated for today…"
I am a Ruby Ferguson, Mary Beresford, Mary Gervaise, Pullein-Thompson, etc, fan, and still have all my pony books (sad, I know). Maggie Dana is British by birth but lives in the States. My daughter and I are three books into her Timber Ridge Riders series and they are great. There are all the classic ingredients of pony stories--the rich girl who has the swanky pony and all the kit but a serious attitude problem (think Susan Pyke from the Jill books). The girl recovering from a serious disability and gradually finding her way back to riding, Holly. The loyal friend, Kate. The mix-ups. The good intentions that go haywire. The misbehaving pony or the horse who goes lame just before a show. The stable fire. The books are set in the States but frankly they could be British. Love of ponies is universal. If you have a pony-mad daughter who loves the genre, this could be a good series to get into. They're available as both ebooks and paperbacks. There are now eight of the books, so plenty to keep a keen series fan going.Read moreLess
