"Very funny, we enjoyed reading this over and over again!…"
My son loves to have the same story read over and over again at bedtime. Harry and the Monster was brilliant, funny and the episode with the pink pants kept me laughing every night. I would highly recommend this book particularly for any children that suffer night terrors as this will make monsters fun. At one point my DS told me he wanted to dream of monsters like Harry.Read moreLess

""Monsters keeping you up at night, kids? Time to take control .…"…"
An uncomplicated story by author Sue Mongredian, it's perfect as a tool in teaching young readers how to conquer their fears. The bright illustrations by Nick East, and the injection of humour, keep things appropriately light - the bright purple and green monster is more cuddly than scary. The creature does appear an amalgam of many of the monsters we've encountered before - a cross between Sully from 'Monsters Inc.' and one of the 'Monster Munch' crisp characters. But we can forgive that.
The text and illustrations have been weaved into a fun picture book. Our central character, Harry, doesn't want to go to bed because a monster appears in his dream every night. So each day his parents give a little advice on how make the monster a little less scary. From imagining it with pink underwear on its head to slowing it down with jelly, it isn't until something even scarier is thought up by Harry that he can take control.
(Or he could have just waved a wand and uttered 'Ridikulus', ala Harry Potter)Read moreLess
"How to get rid of monsters in dreams…"
I likes the book and my 3yo son enjoyed the story and illustrations too! He is not scared of monsters or bad dreams (long may it last) so this story was not really for him, in fact, he now wonders when the monster will come into his dreams so i am not sure I should have read this book to him! i think though that it is a nice read for kids that are a little worried at night.Read moreLess
"A lovely read, beautifully illustrated!…"
Whilst my son is below the age range for this book, he still enjoyed looking through the pictures and loved the story as it was told to him. There are multiple characters which leaves the reader free to use different voices which my son loved!
The book is wonderfully written and is beautifully, and colourfully, illustrated. I think this book may help any young children out who have bad dreams as it empowers the child to take control of their dreams and to not be scared of any monsters; whilst also humanising the monster in giving it something to be scared of, too!Read moreLess
I don't think my 2 year old understands the concept of dreams yet but having said that he did enjoy this colourful book, especially the bit where the cross mummy shouts!Read moreLess
"good if you have a child with night worries about monsters…"
A story for children who are scared of monsters at night. DD has this and, although she doesn't have monster issues, she likes the story. She finds the pants on the head hilarious. She's 3 and it's a good length for her, long enough to be a bed time story but not so long that it can't hold her attention.Read moreLess
This book was thoroughly enjoyed by Charlie (6) and Lucas (4). On the second reading 2 pairs of pink pants were found and worn at the appropriate time. Charlie then read the story to baby Issy. Great illustrations and an important theme. READ IT! It remains a current favourite.Read moreLess

"Lovely narrative, beautifully illustrated.…"
You always know that you're in for a treat with a little tiger press book, and this one was a really sweet little read for both of my children. My 5 year old loved the twist at the end, and we were able to spot some of her key words through the text (EYFS). My 2 year old just loved the pictures and mummy making a funny monster voice!Read moreLess
"A lovely short story with fun illustrations…"
Harry and the Monster is a great funny short story to help children overcome their fears of monsters at bedtime.
It is funny succinct and uses simple language that is easy for children to read and understand themselves. The illustrations by Nick East are simply wonderful. They are bright, fun, engaging, and truly encapsulate and enhance the story being told.
I would recommend this to any parent who wants to help reassure their son or daughter at bedtime, so they sleep well without fear of monsters.Read moreLess
