"Great for footie fans, even little ones!…"
While I found the book a little long for little ones (my two are 3 & 4) they absolutely loved it! They enjoyed the story and the characters and have been recreating the cup final in their own garden since.Read moreLess
"Probably great for a footy fan?…"
Got this book quite a bit later than expected. Really didn't enjoy it at all, found it quite hard to read and not very catchy.
Its obviously aimed at a much older age range than I had thought.Read moreLess

"Great illustration and Football Facts…"
Finlay's verdict on; Up for the cup.
He really enjoyed the book and loved the story; he loved the illustration and the fact that you had to search for characters throughout the pages. Fin also loved the fun facts although said they could not all be true; as one player could not dribble around 1,973 cones.
Julio Poom was a great name for the main character as it stuck in his head.Read moreLess
"Not easy reading…"
Once you get your head round the characters, but I must admit I had trouble reading the players names.Read moreLess
My 7 and 10 year old sons loved this book - and it came at a good time as well (the World cup)! They were quick to remember the style of illustrations from Bartram's earlier book 'Man on The Moon', and were even more delighted to find aliens visiting Earth during the football match! All in all, a great book for football fans and alien spotters!!Read moreLess
"The graphic story is wonderful…"
We love the football facts panels and the superstitions these footballers have. The story line is obvious but love the different slant used to walk the reader through to the conclusion.
Was a little concerned with 'the V salute' when we first read that. Didn't automatically think of 'victory' but I suppose that is an adults mind not a child's.
The illustrations are wonderful and imaginative and the game at the end is great because we had to read it all again to find the characters.
The text is a good size to follow easily and there is enough interest on each page to stretch reading time if required.Read moreLess
