Philips Avent microwave

Good points: Simple to use. Secure (no hot steam escaping to burn me). Great value for money. Sterlises Tommee Tippee, Dr Browns and Nuk bottles too. Idiot/DP proof. It fits in every microwave I've tried it in. It travels well (no flappy loose lid) and stays sterlie for 24 hours if not opened.

Bad points: I can't get more than 3-4 bottles in at once.

I loved this steriliser. It sterilises so quickly, keeps bottles etc sterilised for 24 hours, and is easy to transport.

My only word of caution is that I've found it doesn't fit in all microwaves - it was too big for my parents in law's.

Bought this cheaper model (compared to the steam steriliser) to keep at my mum's house and for travelling and actually think it would have sufficed as my primary steriliser (if only I could get over my weird phobia of Evil Microwaves). In fact it's ideal for travelling as it has two handy clips on either side that keep the steriliser firmly closed (and hence the bottles sterile) unlike the steam sterilier where the top is easily knocked off even in the realtive safety of my kitchen. I would probably recommend that if you don't have an issue with microwave usage on a regular basis then get this over the steam steriliser which although excellent for what it is is a bit cumbersome. But I find it much easier to sterilise all 6 bottles in the steam sterilier as the weird spacing on the tray of the microwave steriliser means that when I try to sterilise anything more than 3 bottles I seem to run out of space for all the different components-this might be me being a bit stupid but it does happen.

I only bought this because it was on special offer in the supermarket, but now I'm really glad I did. It's small enough to go in our small(intergrated) microwave, sterilises bottles very quickly and keeps them sterile for 24hrs, which was particularly useful for sterilising my breastpump and keeping it sterile for the unexpected moment when i had a chance to express.

Really easy to use, good size and quick too. Brilliant and reasonably priced. Ive changed my bottles 3-4 times and its accomodated them all too. Brilliant!

Great price, practical, quick...and you can store it in the microwave when not in use so a great space saver. Do adhere to warnings re opening straight after steaming - it is v hot! (it is supposed to be)

brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! Don't buy anything else. A friend gave us the electric Avent steriliser and we ditched it after about a week for this one. Not only does it keep bottles sterile for 24h, which a lot of more expensive steriliser don't do, but it takes very little room. We have a small kitchen and simply store it in the microwave. It sterilises in seconds and you can fit other bottles than Avent. This is simply a fantastic product! Buy it NOW

Much quicker (4 mins and lasts 24 hours) than the Avent Steam Steriliser - I found the steam steriliser would beep a lot and I was never sure if it had worked. Also not as bulky and it can be hidden away in the microwave rather than taking up space - would highly recommend this product to everyone.

I've found this to be v easy to use and it has stood up well to being used about 3-4 times per day. Very easy to transport and use at other people's houses. I use the lid as a washing up bowl for the bottles/bowls etc to keep them separate from the general household washing up.

Very easy to use, and takes up much less space than an electric steriliser. I didn't need to use it very much, but it looks as good as new after two babies and three years of usage.

Great product. Used it for both children. Easy to use and easy to clean.

It's great because it's simple to use and easy to store, but I personally find it very difficult to open. The amount of times I've scraped my fingers opening it is a joke! My hands are chapped enough tending to a newborn and toddler so run-ins with the steriliser are annoying. Agree that the way you can have sterile bottles in minutes is a huge plus.

Very quick and easy to use. Perfect for me as I only needed to Sterilise every now and then for the odd expressing session and the odd bottle. It holds 4 bottles or the Avent Pump plus a few cups or bottles to store the Milk in.

Better than a full sized worktop version if you are not using it several times a day.

Mind your hands when taking it out though as it gets very hot!

Has to be one of the cheapest, and def. the easiest way to sterilize. So convenient, it was tempting to veto visiting anyone without a microwave...of course, we could always have taken the microwave with us, but that's not so convenient really...definitely the way to go.

One of the most useful things we bought. Easy & quick to use and good for storage too. Just be careful if you open it straight away, whilst still full of hot steam.

Brillant! Only takes four minutes so when you get caught out having not prepared any bottles, you know you're only four minutes away. Our first one did crack but our replacement has been fine.
