"Pricey but stylish, practical and well worth it!…"
18-Feb-2013
Hated my inherited big plasticky highchair with nasty grime filled nooks and crannies on the seat and tray, kept falling over it and couldn't get it clean. Dithered for ages about spending lots of money on this but am chuffed to bits with it. My daughter is secure, comfy and is able to sit up at the table to eat. (Recommend summer infants flexible silicone table mat to use with it). It's very easy to clean, fully adjustable and stylish. I confess I bought the harness on eBay but it looks like resale values remain high so might yet be able to offset some of the outlay in 10 years time!

I bought this thinking it offered the best in terms of looks, practicality and longevity. My daughter loved the baby nest but she is so uncomfortable in the padded baby set I have had to buy a new chair. She was also pushing her legs against the table and rocking backwards on my uneven stone floor. I have now bought the OXO chair which I can't rate highly enough!

23-Jan-2013
Love these adaptable chairs, ours are looking a little worse for wear as they have been used everyday for 10 & 12 years, adults use them just as often as kids now, very comfy.
My 1 criticism...there is nothing quite so painful as stubbing your toe on the large base part! And I can't count the number of times I've done it!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"Fantastic…"
14-Jan-2013
I love the philosophy of having our baby join us at the dining table and the fact that this chair will last for years. We bought this with the baby set and were given the newborn seat as a gift. I probably wouldn't have paid extra for the newborn seat as the baby doesn't use this to eat and my baby has grown out of it after only 3 months but I have really enjoyed having my baby at the table to get used to dinner times and the newborn seat can be used separately as a rocker. This chair is expensive but totally worth it!!

"Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely.…"
20-Dec-2012
First tried this out in a cafe and DD was delighted by it. I knew that I wanted to do BLW and that the Tripp Trapp and the Antilop were the two most recommended and DH declared that he would pay for the Tripp Trapp if it meant he didn't have to go to IKEA.
It's not the easiest to assemble but it's very solid and the adjustable platforms mean it should last years. And unlike many of the more garish seats on the market, this blends in with our dining table...! Even without the padding DD is comfortable in it and can sit right up at the table making mealtimes very enjoyable for her. It's also very easy to clean with a damp cloth and flat surfaces mean there are no padded crevices for mush to cling to and crust over.
The price definitely gave me pause but it's so worth it and I believe they hold their value well on eBay. Definitely worth considering - quite a few cafes seem to use them so I imagine that speaks well of their durability.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

Totally love this high chair. I had to talk my husband into getting it because of the cost but my little boy is 5 now and still loves his Tripp TRapp (in fact he has just very kindly let his little sister use it, but this involved lots of bribery). Also they retain a decent value on Ebay.

This is the best really! Little one gets to sit up the table and have a proper meal like mum and dad!. Good support for baby posture and adjustable foot support. Appliances make this feeding chair expensive but it is designed for life so it's an investment!

I love these chairs and have 2 of them.
The only thing that has been tricky is that 2 of the DC's have gone through a short stage where they have tried to put their feet up onto the table ledge and push back...this has easily been remedied by putting a belt around the table legs and the chair until they grow out of it.
The best thing is that they take up so little space and once the DC's are too large for a normal high chair they can sit at the table properly on one of these rather than wriggling about on a normal chair.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

I had this when my eldest was 1 - she is now almost 9 - and both my other younger children have used it. My youngest who is nearly 5 still sits on it - it's now 'his chair' apparently! I can see us using the Tripp Trapp for many years to come as the design fits well into our functional kitchen diner! A great highchair/toddler chair/childs chair etc!

09-Apr-2012
I don't like this high chair and am going to sell it on eBay. I have a large eight month old boy and have been using it for the last couple of months. I thought it would be ideal not having a tray and having him eat at the table with us and was impressed by all the good reviews, but he can't reach the table properly from the babyset attachment, and it's a little low for our average height table. I don't think it even looks all that great.

"Definitely one to buy secondhand as it's prohibitively expensive new…"
07-Mar-2012
Definitely one to buy secondhand as it's prohibitively expensive new (what with all the add-ons). The baby-set is essential.
I LOVE this, and didn't realise how much until I used other highchairs. It is easy to keep clean, can be pulled up to the dinner table, has a shallow seat so baby sits properly and food doesn't end up in his lap (well, not as much as with the traditional tray type!). It has a tiny 'footprint' so it is brilliant for a small house/dining room. It's a handsome bit of furniture.
The Tripp Trapp lasts a long long time, no finger-traps, excellent reselling potential, super adjustable.
Like any baby product you have to be aware of safety issues and keep an eye on your child. The Tripp Trapp can be tipped if the child kicks against the table and my son can easily stand up/crawl onto the table if inclined. But then I chose not to use the harness.
Highly recommended, particularly if family mealtimes/baby-led weaning are important to you.Read moreLessMumsnetter Tancub

"You can definitely make heavy weather of researching baby stuff…"
22-Feb-2012
You can definitely make heavy weather of researching baby stuff online, so I decided to just go for a Tripp Trapp when two good friends with older babies spontaneously recommended it, and I'm glad I did. It's robust and easy to adjust, and it's composed of nice flat or gently curved surfaces so that it's easy to clean - no nooks and crannies for gunge to fester in. The baby set and cushions come off easily for cleaning too; the cushions wipe clean quite well, go in the machine for things that don't respond to wiping and dry quite quickly afterwards. My son (seven months at the moment) sits contentedly in it for longer than he'll stay put anywhere else, so I take it that it's comfy enough. It's sufficiently attractive that I'm happy to have it sitting in our living/dining room for a good few years, and both my and my husband's mums complimented us on it unprompted when they saw it. Last but certainly not least, it does not have the splayed legs occupying a large floor area that many highchairs do; for someone as prone to tripping over things as I am, this is vital to keeping me and my son intact and out of A&E.
The Tripp Trapp is certainly expensive, especially when you add the baby set, harness, cushions and so on, of which the baby set at least is essential in order to use it as a highchair. I spent a while on eBay getting an idea of the going rate and buying the chair and baby set second-hand; the chair had been used for a number of years but is still absolutely sound and solid, and the finish withstood some vigorous sticker removal so that it now looks lovely too.
I bought the Playtray, not by Stokke but made to fit the Tripp Trapp by another company, so that we can also have the chair in the kitchen where there's no room for a table. It's lovely and solid with a good rim to contain spills, and is also very easily cleaned. It was well worth the additional expense to be able to do things in the kitchen while the baby plays with things on the tray. This was another second-hand purchase, and unsurprisingly for such a solid piece of gear it bears no scars of its past life. It's rather heavy, but this is no problem.
I plan to buy another one next time around, if our son is still in the one we have.Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

"I bought a second-hand Tripp Trapp from ebay, and it…"
30-Nov-2011
I bought a second-hand Tripp Trapp from ebay, and it was immaculate considering it had been used for three children! It is such a design classic, and is the most sturdy highchair I've come across. It is so flexible - my son has used with crotch strap and reins, and now just crotch strap, which will in turn soon be removed. The height is easily adjustable, so that growing legs can be supported properly and given the room they need. The Tripp Trapp cushions come off easily and clean up in the washing machine and come out shining brightly each time (which is a miracle!).
I have also bought a playtray (not a Stokke product) but very very handy and easily cleaned/attached, with a big space and rimmed edge.
If anything the only 'downside' for some is that it can't be folded up and put away - but we didn't want that (despite not much space) as it's a gorgeous bit of furniture, and is used so much I'd be getting it out and putting it away all day long! The allen key is needed to put foot/bum bits lower or higher, add remove belly bar, change back/head rest - but most people have allen keys - and we keep ours close by now so we don't have the house upside down as and when we need to adjust it!
I wouldn't hesitate in buying another Tripp Trapp for number 2, as I can't see my son giving his up (or sharing it!) very soon as he loves going in it. I couldn't recommend this highly enough.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

This seemed like a big purchase, but a decade and four children later it is still going strong and looking great.
As your toddler grows you need to adjust the seat down, otherwise it is dfficult to get him or her in. However, I don't mind this as being able to adjust for a perfect fit at every stage from weaning to adulthood is one of this chair's USPs.
Easy to clean, stable, robust, comfortable and attractive - what more can you ask? I just wish we'd bought the children one each as we went along.Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

04-Oct-2011
Pluses: Looks good and takes up little space, and it's great for DD to be able to eat at the table at the same height as the rest of us. It's sturdy but if using the additional baby pack then you do need to make sure that the stabilisers supplied with it are fitted as it looks as though it would topple over otherwise.
Negatives: Value for money not a strong point, so I would recommend buying secondhand for your first child and then getting as much use as possible out of it. Initial price includes only chair, not the harness or the baby seat, cushion or tray, so there are a lot of potential extras to be factored in when budgeting to buy this. DD happens to be a skinny minnie but even then I felt the baby seat doesn't allow much room.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

Boy, did I over research this one. Very easy to assemble, solid feel and takes up so little space (!), less than an adult chair. So thumbs up on design. However, at times my nipper looks darned uncomfortable in it. I made too much of a big deal about buying this chair, its just a chair at the end of the day and I should have just purchased something less expensive to do the job.

We LOVE this highchair! It is the best baby product we have bought. We spent a long time deciding where our money was best spent and we don't regret our decision at all. It is expensive but when you think about how many times a day your baby/ child will be using it, and that you will be using it far longer than a normal highchair, you will more than get your money worth. We also bought the Play Tray from Amazon to go with it which is brilliant.

I bought my Tripp Trapp 3 years ago for my eldest child and he has only just stopped using it to make way for his younger brother. It was an expensive purchase but it is comfortable for all ages, easy to assemble, easy to clean, attractive to look at and takes up minimal floorspace. Best of all when my baby has finished with I hope to sell it on. Only slight problem is that you have to take it apart to get the cushions into the wash. As they are only needed for first six months it isn't a big deal

07-Dec-2010
After world's longest high chair consultation process, I ordered a red Tripp Trappe with some reservations. I loved it immediately: I assembled it in 20 minutes and every thing worked a charm. It takes up only the space that a regular chair would in our tiny dining area, and our baby immediately became an active member at our dinner table. We are just this week starting weaning, but lovely to have baby at the table already. He is much happier here than in the bouncer on the floor. And last but not least, it makes a strong visual statement, but in a smart stylish way, not a monstrous carbuncle in your home kind of way. I'm glad we paid up for the Tripp Trappe and know we'll use this chair in some capacity for our son for many years.

17-Aug-2010
We bought this expensive seat after looking at the reviews on Kiddicare, i think we were influenced a bit by the snob value.
This is a well made product, however the safety harness broke after a week.
My problem is that our baby wont sit in it properly, I have adjusted it many times but she just straightens her body and goes rigid.
Why is it that she loves the fifteen quid ikea one at her grandparents but hates the one that cost far more? I have persevered for months but have decided to go to ikea this weekend and pick up a cheapie.Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

"We ordered our first Tripp Trapp soon after our second…"
27-Mar-2010
We ordered our first Tripp Trapp soon after our second child was born. We'd previously had a standard wooden high chair with a tray but with our four year old, we wanted the new baby to be able to sit at the table with us during meal times so the Tripp Trapp was the best choice for us. We were so impressed with it that 3 weeks after our baby started using it, we ordered another one for our four year old to use as a normal chair with the seat set to a higher setting to make sitting at the table more comfortable for him too. I can definitely say that the Tripp Trapp has been one of my top purchases with either of my children and our baby (now a one year old) and our four year old love to sit at the table and eat. They also use them to sit to the table to play, draw etc.
Our baby has always been a fidget, to the point where she can climb out of most high chairs when we are out to eat, but the Tripp Trapp holds her nicely and she is happy to sit in it too.
Great for puree weaning or baby led weaning, I'd say this chair is a must for any family. Our children love to sit at the table and eat with us and our four year old is always disappointed when we eat out and the restaurant doesn't have one of his special "Stokke Boy Chairs".
The price reflects the quality of the chair and the amount of use you will get for years to come.
When it comes to storage, there is no need for it to fold up, it simply tucks under your dining table like the rest of your chairs.
The colour range is great too so I think there's something for everyone.
All in all, a great buy and as I mentioned before, definitely one of my top purchases as a Mum.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

18-May-2009
We got our tripp trapp a couple of weeks ago for our 6 month old baby and we/she loves it. Promotes eating at the table so we all eat together which is messy but fun. She also sits and plays in it at the table when not eating. If you have a fancy table, put a mat on it so baby doesnt damage the table. Also our baby is extremely active and bobs up and down in it/flings herself about. I dont think any other chair would still be upright with all the movement, but the tripp trapp has extendable support on legs so she is very safe it it.
Although putting it together looks complicated when you take it out of the box, it isnt and is well worth the 15 mins or so it takes.
Plus it looks great and lasts throughout childhood.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

I have four Tripp Trapp's in my house - so it is safe to say that I love it. Each of my children have had them since they were old enough to be weaned and I have recommended it to so many people that I have lost count.
I think that it really comes into its own as a chair as your child moves out of the baby set. from toddlerhood through early schooling it is an essential piece of equipment. My oldest child is now 7 and he still uses his Tripp Tapp at the kitchen table everyday and to be honest i prefer to sit on them than on the two adult chairs that we have!Read moreLessMumsnetter powerkitty

I do love the chair, but am now up at 4am as I'm having nightmares about baby J falling through the gap between the crotch strap and the side. She is a very curious little girl and turns 180 degrees and her bottom slips through the gap. She also pushes off from the table with her legs. I do love the chair, but maybe she's a bit young for it - 9 months. I love the way t helps her socialise, but worry about safety if I need to pop in to the kitchen 2 metres away to get a cloth etc. I'm going to buy a harness and see if this helps me sleep.

Very easy to assemble. Comes in lovely colours so can fit with your other furniture. Involves child in mealtimes because he can sit with you at the table. Lasts forever, your child is likely to get quite attached to his/her special chair! Lovely cushion covers although they're not necessary. We never used the harness, I suppose if your child is very active or wants to get out all the time they may be useful but seems like an over-the-top accessory to us.
We LOVE this highchair and have yet to see a nicer and more practical one. Why would anyone go for any other chair? If you find it's a bit pricey go on ebay there are loads of used ones for sale and this is a quality product which tends to be in good shape even after years of wear.Read moreLessMumsnetter EliStar

Have used a tripp trapp since mine were able to sit in one at six months. Still using it for 3 year old who is not quite tall enough to sit at the table in an adult size chair. Our original one has now been passed on to a cousin and is still in use 6 years on! If you're looking to the long term this is the one for you. Tucks in nicely to our table and doesn't offend the eye. Hated the cushions though, always in the wash. Gave up in the end and just covered the cushioned seat with a tea towel!

Definatly a MUST and just brilliant if you want to have your kid eating at the table with you. They feel part of whats going on I am sure for that reason learn to eat well. It is not cheap but it will last them for years. My 19 year old niece is still using hers now for studying. It is a bit of a pain to clean (but arn't they all?) and adjust but its a small price to pay. I am always happy to be home for meal times because I find other chairs (specially the ones with trays) really unpractical.

16-Aug-2008
Quite heavy to lift and I wish I had bought one in natural wood colour rather than blue as over vigorous cleaning has scratched the paintwork a bit. DS did not want to sit in it by the time he could manage on an ordinary chair but I think we got our money's worth. Fabric seat covers are a pain. Some damage done to our pine dining table wih toddler banging beaker on the soft wood - definitely another reason to get a plastic table mat. Despite these drawbacks I was really pleased with the chair overall and I'm looking forward to dusting it off for arrival of no.2.

I have three of these for each of my children (4,3 and 9m) and cannot rate the tripp trapp highly enough! I finally decided to buy one for my then 6m old, and after lots of research could see the benefits for my two older children(they never looked comfy at the table). They are expensive, but will last for years, they are easy to clean(unlike those big bulky highchairs) and they look really good at the table. My only regret is that I should have bought them in different colours so we know who's whose!

Wonderful - bought on ebay to save a little money. DS1 is 6 mths old and loved sitting at the table with us, we're also people that like to sit down to cup of tea at table and it was lovely he was right with us and we didn't need to balance him on our laps. He was really comfy in it too! First class. My Mum loved it too and has just bought a 2nd for her house for when we visit

Our son really really likes being up at the table with us. He does make a bit of mess but I'm not really bothered there is no baby tray- just clean up the kitchen table afterwards.

Our trip-trap has done sterling work - my son's now 8 and still uses it. Quality workmanship, much nicer than the plasticky thing we originally bought for him, and I can vouch for its durability. A friend of mine has one for each of her 3 kids (aged from 1 to 9) and loves them too. It may seem expensive at first, but this really is a chair that adapts to suit your child's growth - potentially till they leave home - as it converts to a 'normal' chair once they're too tall to need a footrest.

Fantastic. Allows babies to join you at the table as soon as they can sit up; practical, comfy, and not hideous with cartoons or garish colours. Although it seems expensive, it really will be the only high chair you need; I've bought a second for our new baby, and my nieces are still using theirs at 5 and 7; bear in mind just how long it is before children can really comfortably sit on an adult chair. Can't say enough good things about it.

An amazing chair! We were lucky enough to be given one when my son was born, and have used it since he's been able to sit up by himself (along with the babyset and cushion set.) He loves being sat at the table for having his meals or just sitting and playing at a height that means he's safe and able to see what's going on. Only thing I would say is that the base cushion is a bit awkward to use when you've got the brackets for the harness in place. It means that you have to have the seat quite far back, which didn't suit our little boy. Also you have to loosen the whole chair to take it off to wash (which could be quite often) so we've given up and he just uses his nappy as his seat cushion! :-) I love it and recommend it to anyone who asks me what we use. I know it's expensive, but when you consider it will take an adult it can easily be transported to their bedroom for their desk once they've decided they don't want it at the table anymore! Although having said that my cousin's little boy is 6 and he and his friends always fight over who's going to sit in his so it isn't seen as a baby seat by 6 year old boys!

I usually go for foldable things so I'm surprised that I rate this so highly. We've got the baby kit on it so it's got a raised back and a bar across the front to keep them in. I initially thought that the pale/stripey cover wouldn't last one meal before being ruined or at least needing washing but it's actually lasted really well. You can wipe it down and it comes pretty clean which is just as well as the cover doesn't come off without dismantling the chair. Surely a design fault! We also cheated by buying a detatchable tray from someone on ebay. It is made from the same wood so it matches perfectly and just clips on. Stokke don't like it apparently as it goes against the principle of the Tripp Trapp, but I love it and it gives us the flexibility of having DD eating away from the table.

We have two of these and the children have used them since the ages of 2 and 4. I can't comment on how good they are for babies therefore. However, for toddlers and small children they are fantastic. They adjust completely to provide the optimum sitting position for the child, with a solid footrest that stops a child from dangling their legs or slumping. We changed our kitchen table for one with quite a deep skirt to it, and the chairs adjusted completely to fit the new table, in a way that our previous high chairs could not have done. The children can be tucked right in to the table and are able to sit upright in a comfortable way.

27-Jan-2008
I was hesitant about buying a tripp trapp as I wanted to feed my baby in the kitchen (not in our carpeted living room) and we don't have a table in the kitchen so thought I would need a highchair with a tray. I was also put off by the price and the fact it doesn't fold. I changed my mind having sat my baby in a friend's tripp trapp and various restaurant highchairs. The difference in her posture was remarkable - the tripp trapp really encourages her to sit up well (I believe Dutch schools encourage parents to buy tripp trapps for their children to use in school). She almost falls out of other highchairs. Not folding hasn't proved so much of an issue as I just put it away at the table in the living room and it fits almost underneath.

Brilliant! Looks great, tucks in under the table like one of the chairs and encourages your baby to eat with you at the table and be part of the family. Wouldn't bother with the padded seat cushions. No need (he's sitting on a nappy anyway!) and makes wiping down so easy. Oh, and I have a round table and have found no problems at all.

"I have friends who have had one for years and…"
23-Nov-2007
I have friends who have had one for years and have always said I want one for my child. He is now 5 1/2 months old and loves sitting in it even though we don't yet feed him in it. (He's not weaned yet). It is a very expensive chair but when you think they can use it till they are in their teens it's not really that bad and I always pay for quality and style. The support of my babies back is of upmost importance to me and this chair stops him slouching and slipping and sliding all over. He can see all around him and he's at our level at the dining table. The interaction at mealtimes is invaluable and I wouldn't hesitate to get another if we have more children.
Putting it together is a little fiddly at first especially if you do get the separate baby attachment, harness and seat cover. A good tip is to read all the individual instructions before you start. It's not often you need to adjust things but just tape the alan key to the underside of the seat or foot rest.
Not a chair to be stored but a piece of Swedish design to be kept on view to admire. Another good tip is to choose a different colour baby attachment to the seat colour you are buying. If you get it right then it looks a bit different and even more stylish. We opted for the light oaky type wood and a green baby seat with tales seat cover. It really fits into our dining room.
A lot of people mention that the downside of this chair is that it doesn't have an attached table...you can actually buy one from stokke. It's expensive and having not bought one I don't know how good it is. The whole point of this chair for us is to have our son at the table with us and not sat 3/4 foot away from us. The only other thing to point out is that if you have one of these chairs be aware that you dining table will go through a bit of a bashing as your child bounces numerous hard toys and cutlery off of your table. Get a good wood table or maye a metal one but don't be too precious about it. We specifically got a wood one that looks better with age and after a few beatings! (or get yourseld a hard table covering).
My husband came home from work the other and found my son in his tripp trapp sat next to me whilst I did some work at the computer. He had some toys to play with and was right beside me at the desk. Daddy loved that we were together and that he wasn't left to play on the floor or in his bouncer away from mummy! I'd recommend anyone to buy one but think hard about how you want to use it first before splashing out.Read moreLessMumsnetter kittyk10

I love this chair. Obviously it's a great design piece but it's also so practical. It fits under the table so is hardly noticeable, unlike a huge plastic thing but the best features are 1. baby likes to be at the table and is learning all the time by watching everyone else 2. it's so easy to clean. The only downside I have found is that because my son is tall, even at 6months, we have had to lower the seat to get him in and out easily - this means he is sitting a little low at the table. It doesn't seem to bother him though! Value for money - very high because the resale value on Ebay is incredible.

Just to add to what other people have said...I have put my son in his from 12 weeks (okay he is a biggish chap). The 'close fit' of the safety cross bar, and the cushion - if you have invested in one - means that baby does not slide down. My son loves being up high at the table with his big brother even though he is so small. Happy as Larry in the Stokke chair even though he has to work a bit harder to keep himself upright - whereas if we put him down in the bouncer when we were all at the table he would fuss.

11-Nov-2007
Lovely looking and you wouldn't buy it if you wanted to fold up and store. Don't find the fabric covers create a problem as I just put them in the wash with all the other laundry every few days and dry overnight.
I used to think it was the perfect (and beautiful looking) highchair, but it has two faults
1. THe mess - sometimes a tray would be really handy therefore another time I would choose a chair with a removeable tray so I could have the option
2. My son actually caused the chair to tip backwards, something I thought was impossible due to the design. It was placed on a blanket (to limit the mess) and he pushed back with his feet against the table. Miraculously his head hit a thick doormat, but it could have been really nasty.
However, I now make sure this can't happen and overall I think I am fairly pleased with it.Read moreLessMumsnetter hopperoo

We like it because it looks fab and takes up a third of the space, while my son loves it because it's a 'big boy's chair'. The only drawback is that, as my son is almost three, we didn't buy the straps but it means he can get off whenever he wants to - in the Chicco he was strapped in and we made sure he had actually finished eating before getting him down... Now, if he's a bit bored halfway during dinner, he will attempt to escape unnoticed! In any case, highly recommended, though for a baby I'd rather use a padded highchair instead.

Excellent chair. I hope my son will use this until he leaves home! I have only used it for a toddler, rather than a baby, but my son is so much happier in this chair, rather than on his knees in a regular chair. He is much more likely to sit and eat (or read, or do arts and crafts) in this chair than an adult chair. The only problem is my table, which due to its design, means that my son's legs are rather stuck between the chair and the table. But that is not a design fault of the chair. I would highly recommend it!!

05-Oct-2007
I was very keen to get my son the 'best' highchair to promote good posture and was taken with the promotional blurb from stokke. It has not really worked out for us, as we have a circular dining table, so he cant reach much of the table - as we are doing baby led weaning and encouraging finger food this posed a big problem. The chair looks very cool and i love the stripey seat cover, but it just doesnt suit our needs. Also, a major design flaw is that you have to take the chair apart with an allen key to remove the seat cover to wash it. I have now bought a not so stylish fisherprice healthy thingy chair, which although garish is very useful and has made meal times much more enjoyable.
If you enjoy diy and have a rectangular table, then go for it, but otherwise - beware - you may end up buying a different one and feeling a tad foolish!Read moreLess4 people found this review helpful.

Best buy we've made. Has seen three years' use so far and expect it to carry on for many more. Particularly useful for the 'in-between' stage, when toddlers have grown out of traditional high chairs (or refuse to use them) but are still too small to sit properly on a proper chair. Easy to adjust, easy to clean, looks good.

we thought it was great still have it in use even though my children are 6 and 3 years old, it is brilliant to have around for visiting babies/small children and useful as a spare chair for an adult, though not so comfy for long periods of sitting.
I will keep it forever, or to pass on and share with friends and family..... so much better than a cumbersome big high chair, great that my children sat at the table from their first meals...
I know it is fairly expensive but it is so different from other highchairs... made of wood, no nooks and crannies that are hard to clean, adjustable so it fits at any table and suits your child's height... it is the environmentally friendly choice of high chair imho and you can use it forever....Read moreLessMumsnetter Aefondkiss

Fantastic chair - used from 5 months. Great for weaning as you can sit directly in front of your child without a tray in between. For older children it enables them to be at the correct height for the table - which encourages good eating habits at family meal times, and is also great for craft activities - paint wipes off very easily.

We bought it because it is supposed to be the Rolls Royce under the highchairs plus we liked the idea it would grow with your child. However within one week our son toppled backwards with the chair. He pushed himself off against the table and we ended up in A&E as he landed on a corner of the sideboard! Really annoying as the lady in the shop told us it couldnt fall backwards because of its design anyway we are now using the handysitt and are pleased with it. The good thing about the Stokke is is that it keeps it value a we nearly sold it for what we paid for it on Ebay.

overall very good. Baby is at the table with rest of family. We thought it worth money to buy new, our 3rd child & 1st triptrap! Easily sponged down after yet another messy meal- dries quickly.Easy assembly etc. BUT COMPLETE PAIN to disassemble to launder baby seat padding, you have to be content to wipe down - suggest you buy stripy cushion kit! Get the harness, goes well with other plastic 'linkies' for eating out.

Really good, I've used ours for 8 years with all three of my children and will use it again with number four. As it sits at the table, there's no problem with storing it, and by using the cushion pads provided for the first few months it seems really comfortable. Older children look really comfortable as they can reach properly and rest their feet properly.

"Easy to assemble" and "completely adjustable - it should last to adulthood". Some claimed adjusting was fiddly but "you don't have to do it very often". It doesn't recline so "not great for small babies" and "as there's no tray, a wipe-clean table cover is a good investment" but "the child is fully involved in meal times". "Doesn't fold away but you wouldn't want it to, it looks too good!" "Pricey but definitely worth it".

Fantastic piece of equipment, especially for a slightly older baby. The only down side is the lack of attachable tray, so that the baby has to eat straight from the table. This is a good thing, apart from with smaller babies who may not be so adept at reaching that bit further. Also means a lot of 'debris' ends up on lap, seat, foot rest and floor, so plenty of cleaning. Great value for money, although initially expensive as it lasts well into childhood, and can be used as a normal chair in later years. Wouldn't swap mine for the world! Easy to adjust, as long as you don't lose the Allen key (!), and lots of different settings available depending on size/length of baby. Our son seems happy to spend hours in it doing other activities, and also uses it as a mini step ladder so that he can wash his hands before he eats/help me cook or wash up etc. which is lovely. It's much sturdier than a box or step, and literally cannot fall over. Slips under the table in the same way as a chair. Really can't praise it enough!

3 years down the line and our trip trap is still going strong. Dd loves to do her art and craft activities sitting in it, she uses it as a 'coach' for her dolls and occasionally even eats her meals sat in it. The trip still looks great - fits beautifully into our kitchen/dining room, and is so easy to keep clean. I didn't really believe the blurb when I bought it but it really has grown with her. It's even helped her learn to spot her name - I embroidered it on the seat cover. The only problem is I don't think she's going to be willing to give up when her new baby brother wants it.
If you want a stylish, practical high chair that lasts - this is the one for you!Read moreLess"Takes a bit of time to adjust as you have…"

Takes a bit of time to adjust as you have to take it apart with an allen key, but it's not complicated to do. Comfortable for baby, and I love the fact that they are at the table with you, although once he was able my son tried to climb out onto the table all the time and at this time I did miss a tray (daughter never did this though, so it depends on the child). With that in mind, my son went through a strange period of refusing to stay in it as a baby chair, but he was too young to remove the baby bar (so we borrowed another highchair for a couple of months from my mum as he drove me mad at mealtimes). Looks gorgeous and is a piece of furniture for ever - I sit on it all the time now it's not a 'baby chair'(we have two). Cost is reasonable really when you think about it per use over and that it adapts with your child. Plus, it's gorgeous wood. Storage isn't really an issue, as it's just always at the table. Although we have quite a small kitchen/diner and sometimes I bang my feed on the base, so it does need a fair bit of floor space, but then most highchairs do anyway. Worked really well for my daughter but not so great for my son, so I'm divided in opinion!

This highchair is fantastic for involving your baby in family mealtimes. The lack of a tray means that your baby is sat at the table with you and the ergonomical design means that he learns to sit up correctly in a chair. The downsides are that the seat positions are a bit of a pain to adjust; the cushions are not wipeclean and with the baby bar in place the seat needs to be taken apart to get them off for washing - then you have to refit the chair to your baby all over again. It is more expensive than other highchairs, but you can get a good deal if you shop around. A little bit of hassle, but I highly recommend it. NB as there is no tray, I also recommend a wipeclean table cloth!

If you want a nice looking piece of furniture that will last for years and grow with your child, rather than a traditional highchair, this one is for you. It enables your baby or child to sit at the table with the rest of the family in comfort thus helping them to socialise. You need to think of it as an extra chair; it doesn't fold away so it's not good for tight spaces. It may also seem expensive initially - but not if you think of how long it will last. Available in all kinds of funky colours and finishes, this is a design classic.

This is a good looking chair and in theory takes you through from baby that can sit unsupported to teenage years. However it does need to be taken apart each time you need to move anything - it is not easy to clean and I very much doubt that any child would want to be sitting on such a small seat into their teenage years. It does have one big advantage in that it can be placed right up to the dining table and so your child is much more part of the family during mealtimes.

This is a relatively expensive high chair but it looks good. The best feature for me is that it doesnt have a tray so it can be pulled up to the table which makes it far more sociable for eating together as a family which is important to me. The chair is suitable for babies once they can sit unsupported - but is very adjustable as your child grows and we have been using ours for 18 months now and have found it to be a great every day chair which is fairly easy to clean. Although it is a bit of a bind to have to take it apart to get the bottom cushion in and out for cleaning.

Our children love them, and they do look nice, but take up a lot of room. As a child seat they are great but the baby part wasn't such a success. The baby part is really fiddly to put on, if you have an unwilling baby it is nearly impossible to get them in and out. Also you will need a harness, I don't know how, but babies can climb out, and stand swaying on the seat....not the best situation!! Overall though I do like the long lerm usage, and the looks, though I use a mamas and papas one more for day to day!

The only downside was that when the baby harness attachment was installed she reached a point where getting her in and out was rather a tricky manoeuvre. A superb chair, not the cheapest but very practical, ideal if you have got a small kitchen or diner as it tucks right under the table like a normal dining chair. Also ideal if you have limited number of dining chairs as using this will always mean you have a spare dining chair for visitors. So good I have bought both my boys one and intend to use them for many years. Enables my little boy to sit correctly at the table, once he outgrew a highchair and stops the 'sitting on his knees' scenario which can happen with smaller children.

Because the chair is a simple design, with mimimal corners and sections, it makes cleaning it a doddle. Can be used up to adulthood, so is worth the extra money. Our baby sits with us at mealtimes making it more enjoyable for him and for us. He also has support for his feet makin git more comfortable for him. It would be nice to have a detachable tray as an option. Also the padding is pretty but I cover it with tea towels at mealtimes as I know it would be difficult to remove food stains, eg tomato sauce, spinach, from it.

This is a very stylish looking highchair, it's available in several different finishes, so will go with your wooden dining table set beautifully.
The biggest advantage is that the chair cannot be tipped over by a toddler (much as my friends child tried). The chair though can be easily monoevered over a carpetted floor, so my 18 month old is now using our stokke as a baby ladder, she slides it over to the window to climb onto the window frame, this has undoubtedly added to my white hairs.
The biggest drawback is the chair is expensive, and you have to buy additional bits for it; like the baby set (which a lot of people consider unnecessary), and a little padded seat and backcover seperately. I bought the whole lot, but the padded seat cover, is very fiddly to put on and take off, and it does need to be washed fairly often, as the seat is being used for a toddler.
Theoretically the chair can be used well into adulthood, I can see ours will be in the family at least till the last child has grown up. We'll obviously have to decorate the dining room according to the finish of the stokke though (it's redwood incase you were wondering). On the upside, the chair does seem to have a very good resale value, so one doesn't lose that much by buying all the little bits.
On the whole, the chair encourages good posture (according to the blurb on the stokke website), and encourages good muscular developement (according to my observations of dd2, who has been pushing her chair around the dining room for the last 9 months). A good buy if you have a spacious dining room/kitchen as the chair does not fold down.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

As the child grows you just move the seat and foot rest down a notch, so it is alwys optimally comfortable for your child and supporting of the back. In fact they are so comfortable I often use my daughter's chair myself when she is not around. They are fairly easy to clean - not too many nooks and crannies. When not in use we just leave them at the dining table with our other chairs - they are beautifully designed.

I didn't want to spend money on another piece of garish plastic that would end up in the loft once my baby outgrew it, so the Tripp Trapp was a natural choice. Great range of colours, baby kit makes it suitable from 6 months, and my two-year-old now sees it as 'her' chair and loves using it not just at mealtimes but for sitting up at the table to scribble/paint/playdough. I have never found it a problem that the Tripp Trapp has no tray - in fact I think it helps your baby to feel part of mealtimes to be sitting at the table with everyone else, hence it is probably better for teaching good table manners too. Will definitely be buying another one for my next baby (and possibly one each for my husband and I too!)

Wipes down easily and looks as good as it did 3 years ago with constant usage. Doesn't look babyish so no probs with a small child using it or even as a desk chair for a teenager or adult.

Looks great, saves on space because it's much neater than most highchairs.
Can be difficult to get child in & out of it - we always have to take off our son's shoes!
Our son managed to kick himself backwards in the chair and both he and the chair landed in a potted plant behind him. This was a major worry for a couple of months as he just kicked against the table and it would lean back.Read moreLess"expensive but a great buy as it can be used…"

Easy to clean, no hidden crevices like most high chairs; nice for baby to sit at the table with other children and grown-ups; encourages good posture; can continue to use it as your child grows - mine are 4 and 6 and still use theirs. They spend many hours at the table writing and drawing and I'm sure part of the reason they are happy to do so is because it's comfortable for them to be there.

It takes up very little room, the baby/child is sitting at the table along with the rest of the family - there's no tray to get in the way, so they feel involved in whats going on. We've had ours now for 2 1/2 years and its still going strong whereas friends who have a more traditional highchair are a bit stuck as to what to do with them now.

It's comfortable and holds safely and firmly, preventing my little boy from sqirming around too much during meal times! This is a good highchair, it costs little more than others but is an investement as it will last for yers. I like the idea that baby sits at table with you, rather then having own table. The only down side is that as we have a wooden table we can't use toys or bowels with suction pads on it, but I over coe this by using a non slip pad on the table.

Its a great value for money because it will last long beyond their need for a high chair and will continue to encourage a good posture. It also works well with the philosophy that the baby has a place at the table and is able to eat with the family which helps to bring everyone together and to teach the baby good eating etiquette and the importance of familt time over a meal.It is fiddly to dismantle and clean but you wont need the baby pack forever.

I have just bought this as a second highchair for my 18 month old daughter. She was having real issues with her other (more traditional) highchair, not wanting to sit in it, etc. I thought it was because she wasn't at the actual dinner table (because of the tray) so we bought the Tripp Trapp so that it could go right up to the table. However, our table has quite low slats on the side so she is at the table now but not as close in as I would want her to be.
I think the chair looks great, and although it doesn't fold up/store like other highchairs it is quite compact and not at all obtrusive in our small dining room.
We bought the baby set to go with it as this gives better support for the back and is also the only thing that keeps her strapped in, otherwise she would spend her time standing up in it! However, I think this is only up to the age of 18 months as it is a bit tight and very difficult to get her legs in and out.
Overall, I rate the chair highly, particularly for a toddler upwards age group.Read moreLess"My six year old is still using her Tripp Trapp…"

I think it is only suitable for older babies. I think it has faults - the cotton cover needs washing every 2 seconds, the babysit bar is fixed so getting little one in and out is difficult and they up with bruised legs. Not having a tray is a bad idea as your table gets filthy and damaged, so if it's wood, not a good idea and you'll need to invest in a plastic tablecloth. Baby can soon learn to stand up in chair and clamber onto the table which is not great and then to use straps is a pain and they will kick up a fuss. Chair would be much improved if it had a tray that could be used in the early days and the baby bar opened up to allow your child to get in and out more easily.

We love this chair though we have had a couple of problems. We bought the babyset so our son could use it from 6 months but, as he is big for his age, by 8 months we had to remove the leather crotch piece because it was cutting him in half! We then had to fix a harness to the chair to stop him from sliding out. Even with a harness (not apparently available from Stokke so you have to make do with a standard safety harness) he still occasionally slides down the seat and gets wedged between the curved baby bar and the seat - means you have to keep a careful eye on him. Perhaps not best for big babies who are not yet able to sit without the safety bar in front.

I really like this highchair. It does not have a tray at the front which means you can bring the chair right up to the table for family meals. It is designed to be used from baby to adulthood so although there is an initial outlay which is more expensive than a usual highchair it is actually the only chair you are going to buy. The only downside is that you have to dismantle the chair a bit to get to the cushions on the babyset for washing so I think velcro would have been a good idea! Nevertheless I think this chair is almost perfect.

Wanted a chair with no tray so ds can sit at the dinner table with us rather than being set back. It'll grow with him so he should always be able to sit comfortably at the table.
It's a piece of furniture really and will grow to fit an adult so storage seems irrelevant. Having said that, it did arrive in a surprisingly small box so if we ever did decide to take it apart, it shouldn't be too hard to store.
There's various wood finishes and seat covers so you should be able to find one that complements your other dining furniture.
I can easily carry it between rooms with 7 month old installed or with one hand, 7 month old in the other hand !
Chose a rather groovy stripey cover but was concerned that it was only sponge clean. However, after a month of small child smearing various things all over it, it still looks as good as new. Even stuff that's been allowed to dry overnight just wipes off. The wood's easy to clean too.
Value for money - well, it's rather expensive, especially as you have to buy the baby set and seat covers separately. However, think of it as a chair rather than just a high chair - it'll last from babyhood through childhood and on to adulthood, a lifetime in other words.Read moreLess"Fab as encourages child to sit staight. Fab as encourages child to sit staight. Excellent as sit as table from start (although you can buy a tray on e-bay if that way inclined ) Is pricey but easy to clean as no horrible plastic seams for gunk to lurk in ! Also will last a lifetime. Cons are it does take up space but we just moved a dining chair to our loft and leave at the table permanently.

This is a really good-looking and comfortable piece of furniture, it sits at the table alongside our other chairs and it allows the child to join in properly at mealtimes, eating at the table rather than sitting in an isolated 'pod'. It's expensive but is still in daily use 3.5 years along and I'm sure it will be used until my son is at least 7 or 8. He happily uses it for sitting at the table to draw, paint, glue etc. and sees it as 'his chair' rather than a high chair. The stripey cushions are lovely for little ones but we haven't used ours for ages.

Really, really glad we got this chair. Returned a different chair for reasons of safety and then bought this one. Baby can't rock it whilst sitting in it. It's good and solid. Baby (who is at the climbing and pulling stage) can't pull it over on herself even by bouncing up and down whilst clinging onto the back. It slides right up under the table so she eats with us (though you have to watch what it in reach!). It's sleek and compact and you can adjust this to fit baby perfectly as she grows. Even husband agrees that the cost was worth it (and we are not rich people!).

A great chair, we have two! Not as practical as a baby chair as some, as the baby set when fitted is fixed and can make it difficult to get little ones in and out, lots of shoes get knocked off! Comes into its own as they grow up, ours is used for homework, playing piano and painting. Great looks, a change from brightly coloured plastic, and wears well. Only downside is it doesn't fold, and takes up a lot of room, so you need a fairly big kitchen.

Expensive but will last a long time. I used to hate the look of this highchair but now have 2 and love them! No cracks and crevices to clean. It's the easiest to keep looking new of all the highchairs my 4 children have used. Probably not the most comfortable but the instructions do say not to use as a babysitting device only to eat in! Good advice...

Great for a baby over six months, but a little fiddly to adjust (takes me over five minutes to put it back together when I have adjusted it and I keep losing all the little bits!) Thought ours was great until our 11 month old managed to put his feet against the edge of the table and push it over backwards, hitting his head badly in the process. The altenative of sitting him further away from the table is not a great option as there is no tray.

Looks good, easy to store will last for years - BUT not AT ALL suitable for babies. I have been trying to get my 6 month old used to it and it is too upright and hard for him to get comfy. It's also a right pain to get him in and out. We have had to buy another modern plastic high chair for the next few months. The Trip Trap will return when he is a little older, thankfully it will last him many years so it isn't money wasted. Just don't get it as a first high chair!

We bought a Tripp Trapp for our daughter when she was around 20 months as we thought it might encourage her to eat better if she sat up to the table with us. It was relatively expensive but it certainly seems to have helped on this front and will hopefully last for years (a friend's 12 year old is still using his, although now as a computer chair). It also looks good and, although it doesn't fold down, it tucks well away under the table when not in use. Our main concerns are in respect of safety: the foot board encourages our daughter to try and climb up onto and down from the chair herself and she has twice nearly fallen. This was a particular problem when she was smaller and (in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions of ensuring the child sits with a 90 degree angle behind its knees) the footboard was still high off from the floor. The answer of course is to buy a form of restraint at extra cost. I also have some concerns about our daughter's ability to lever herself away from the table. On our parquet flooring, the chair simply slides back from the table, but on the terrasse (flagstones) it starts to tip backwards. I'm no physicist and I'm not sure whether it actually would flip over backwards, but it's enough to make my heart leap to my throat!
