"I bought this second-hand as a spare highchair for visitors."
22-Feb-2012
I bought this second-hand as a spare highchair for visitors. While it's very good value at the fifteen quid I paid, I don't see how it's worth the price tag of £99 for a new one and I'm very glad I don't use it every day. Its main flaw is its many hard-to-get-to little crevices where crumbs and crud accumulate; the problem with ignoring these grot reservoirs is that every spill of water washes out some of the festering rubbish. I unscrewed quite a few bits in order to clear out the horrors beneath, and even then you need an old toothbrush or a slim bottle brush for the job. And you need a screwdriver and a socket or spanner in order to remove the harness for washing (careful not to lose any of the four little washers, two tiny nuts and two little screws you'll have lying around once you've done that!).
The seat cover was so cracked when I bought it that I threw it away; it was impossible to clean it adequately without soaking the padding inside. From other reviews here and elsewhere, it's apparent that this is a common problem. That said, our small guests seem to find it comfortable enough without the padding.
It does have its plus points: the height is nicely adjustable, the wheels are useful and the brakes a functional safety feature. I can imagine the recline positions being useful for the early stages of weaning with some babies. It was immediately obvious how to fold, unfold and adjust it. For a fairly chunky chair, it folds down to a reasonable size. And the actual tray is easy enough to clean. But I can't believe that this is the best buy for its price.Read moreLessMumsnetter helenlynn

"VERY POOR AFTERCARE SERVICE FOR A MULTINATIONAL ORGANISATION! - wouldn't"
16-May-2011
VERY POOR AFTERCARE SERVICE FOR A MULTINATIONAL ORGANISATION! - wouldn't buy anything else from M&P. The padded seat cover came apart after 18 months use. When I rang Mamas and Pappas, they wanted £58 plus postage for a replacement - no compromise. Found this unbelieveable as they are currently selling the whole thing brand new for £99 delivered to your door. I have used duct tape to repair the seat cover but it begs the question as to whether this product is fit for purpose.

"We bought this for our first child and it was"
11-Apr-2011
We bought this for our first child and it was used for the subsequent two more children that came after. M & P sold me a replacement chair cover when ours tore and it arrived the day after the order was placed at 5pm. I loved that it had wheels as it made it easier to move around the kitchen and also had a safety break. It was so comfortable when in the recline position that all 3 of my children fell asleep in it (not at the same time!) and the tray was plenty big enough and easy to remove, clean and replace. I really great high chair.

"This is a great high chair for when they are"
10-Dec-2010
This is a great high chair for when they are little as it adjust to a very 'laid back' position so useful for weaning. Once they were better at sitting I actually prefer them in a booster seat so they can joing the family at the table. The down side is that the food gets in loads of little cracks and spaces and it is really difficult to clean. I saw this as a real down side. It is also quite big and bulky.

27-Jul-2009
I was uncertain about spending £120 on this highchair as I had read reviews about the difficulty in cleaning it, I am now certain that I wasted my money.
I was impressed by the small size it claimed to have when folded but it really is still quite bulky, despite having a fairly small footprint it takes up a lot of room above this.
It is a nightmare to clean and the tray is too high so I have to put towels under my baby so he can reach to eat his food.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless you never want to stow it or clean it.Read moreLessMumsnetter Joji

Awful! This highchair is impossible to clean. I ended up cutting the harness off - the shoulder straps are not removable and so impossible to clean properly. Lots of nooks and crannies for food to get stuck. The tray is still too high for my (large) 9-month-old to reach finger food properly. Only plus point was that the cushioned seat is very comfortable.

Bought ours 3 years ago when we weaned DD1 when it seemed fab. Would I buy again now? Probably not. Food gets trapped under the detachable seat cushion and down the sides, it is quite bulky. We have removed the trays and now pull DS2 (11 months) up to the dining table which he much prefers. £100 could have been better spent!

"Admittedly we have a slightly older model as a hand-me-down"
06-Jan-2009
Admittedly we have a slightly older model as a hand-me-down but I found this chair to be very disappointing. It is pretty expensive new and, although it is definitely very comfortable for the baby, it is a nightmare to clean. There are just endless little crevaces that food can get into. I found myself giving it a full clean after every meal and snack. I felt like half my day was spent cleaning it! The chair cover is not removable so can't be properly cleaned.
The other major flaw is that the tray is too high. My little boy is 9 months and quite tall and it is still too high for him without stuffing towels in under his bum as a booster, which then makes the straps too tight across his lap.
All in all, not great. We've just bought the Graco Tea Time as a cheap replacement and it is a million times better. And the covers go in the washing machine!!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

I found it a nightmare to clean properly and if I had my time again I would go for a cheaper chair with not so many bits that food can get caught in. However I did like the adjustable height and the double tray. Not worth the price really.Read moreLessMumsnetter Lomond

I love this highchair. It's really padded and my daughter seems to find it comfy. The reclining seat means it's easy to put your child in and out without removing the tray and I think the double tray idea makes it much easier to clean. The only downside I've found is the straps can't be removed and I'd love to put them through the washing machine!

31-Aug-2007
I am delighted with this highchair. It is called the Prima Pappa Evo in M&P and costs another £25, so we bought ours from Argos for £99. Colour is different but highchair is exactly the same. Folds down easily - although as I have it on a slippy kitchen floor I grapple with it a bit when I am putting it away! Compact and small when folded - excellent if you are short on storage space. Charlotte has fallen asleep in it several times, so must be comfortable !! Noticed comments re cleaning, the only difficult bit I have found to clean is the straps - remnants can collect on the buckle and strap which goes between the legs. I read loads of reviews and researched several before purchasing, and overall I would recommend.

For little babies to sit and watch the world go by it's great. For actually eating, it's dreadful. The table is too high, so I prop my (large) baby on a stack of towels. It's a nightmare to clean properly. It's also quite bulky to store and there's nowhere to put the table when you're not using it. The best thing about it is that it's got a phallic bit in the middle of the seat that holds a wriggly baby while I strap him in- you don't have to worry about leg straps.

The prima pappa rocker is a brilliant and modern design of a highchair. I have the one that is lime green in colour with a cube design on the seat. Its such a stylish highchair and one that I am happy to have on show in my living room.To be honest this was one of my main features of a chair along with suitability for my daughter. Having such a trendy and modern home I wanted to have a highchair that reflects this and one that I was proud to have on show.
The chair is very easy to use and has a variety of reclining and seat settings (7 recline and 7 height settings I think) that my daughter finds comfortable. The harness is a brilliant safety device and I am confident that my daughter is secure in it when she uses the chair.
The chair comes with x2 trays that are both removable so they allow me to ensure they are clean and hygenic.
The chair is also easy to put up and to take down and is not complicated to use at all. It took me about 2 uses of putting the chair up and taking it down before I was 100% sure of how the chair folds and stores away but this is the case with any new item. I can now open and close it it while holding my daughter!
The design of the chair allows me to sit my daughter in the chair facing me while I feed her, there is no awkwardness.
The chair also has a rocker function which baby can use up to around 6 months. Due to my daughter being 5 months old when we bought this we haven't had much use of this function BUT hopefully this will come in use with other babies we may have.
I would recommend this chair 100%. The aim for us is that this chair will see us through our plans for a bigger family!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

I am so glad I bought this chair and not the trendy expensive wooden ones my friends seem to favour! This is comfortably padded, has recline positions that even a baby who can't sit up can use, looks attractive, folds easily and whilst it's fairly large it does fold flat enough and short enough to store in a fairly small cupboard. The padded seat can be wiped clean and the shoulder straps can be easily removed for washing. The wheels make it easy to move around with baby in it and the removable table is a good size. The post that goes between bbay's legs looks a bit uncomfortable but isn't and is a brilliant safety feature as it's almost impossible for abbay to fall out of this chair even if the straps came undone. The only downside is that if a really messy accident happens and sick/food gets under the padded seat cover it involves using a screwdriver and a degree in physics to get it all apart for proper cleaning! Other than that it's a brilliant chair.

I found that this highchair looks good but a real pain in reality. The tray is way too heavy, especially if you're carrying your child in one arm. The straps are a pain to clean because they are bolted to the chair - if your child throws up, simply wiping the straps will not get rid of smell. In addition, the height of the tray should be adjustable. My daughter didn't like sitting in it until she turned 2 because the tray was too high. High chairs don't need to be built like tanks, they just need to be safe, easy to clean and light to manoeuvre around. Don't fall for all the bells and whistles.

Well, this highchair looks soooo stylish and there's no question it's a padded, comfy seat. It folds and so can be stored, but the reality is that we leave it permanently "up" and ready for action, whether it's a meal or for a crayoning session. I wish the height of the tray was adjustable: at 19 months, my daughter still can't quite get her arms high enough over the tray at mealtimes, so can get frustrated. Hence, the tray is now under our bed, and she is up to the table! I think I paid over the odds for looks and features that really have limited practical value. Two words of warning: 1 - these chairs are a fiddly, impossible, nightmare to clean with endless nooks and crannies. 2 - the seatpad split on our chair after only 14 months use. The chair's been well looked after, used only by one child in this time, and been carefully cleaned... Mamas & Papas Customer Servicces weren't particularly helpful about this - and the seat pads are nearly £45 to replace! And this is on a chair that's supposed to take your child from 4 months to 3 years! Hmmmmm...

What a fantastic high chair....I deliberated for ages about which high chair to buy my son and a friend recommended this one to me....I must admit at first I was put off by the price (£120), however it has been a great buy. My son has just turned 5 months, however you can use it from 4 months. It's so simple to use, looks fantastic, wipes clean really easy and stores away quickly and neatly....I know many will think £120 for a highchair is expensive, however it looks so comfortable and my boy loves it. Weaning and eating is such a huge part of their development so why not make it as comfortable as possible for them!

This highchair is fab. It is easy to fold. There is plenty of room to get my son in and out and there is a large piece between their legs so they can't slide out. The chair is easy to clean and is on wheels so can be easily moved about the room. There is also a recline mechanism for younger babies.

Great high chair, comfy and easy to use. The only downfall (as with many high chairs) is cleaning it. So many nooks and crannies for bit of carrot to fall down.
Overall though good value for money.Read moreLess"Quite expensive, but loads better than some of the other"

This highchair was very comfortable with a nice padded cushion, but was quite large. My 6 month old had to sit on a cushion for about 4-5 months to be able to reach the tray to feed herself.
Good height adjustability for sitting up to the table for family meals.
Great stability, never looked close to toppling/moving with child in.
Not very easy to keep clean, lots of litlle "nooks and crannys" for bits of food to get dropped/thrown into.
If I was buying again I would probably go for something cheaper and easier to clean though we did use this chair for 2 years, so I feel that we did get reasonable value for money.Read moreLess"My son looked really comfortable in the seat, and could"

My son looked really comfortable in the seat, and could not slip out the bottom due to it's design. Easy to move about as it's on wheels. Really easy to clean as it's really easy to wipe down and has a top tray to catch any spills. The tray is also removable, and the overall hight can be adjusted which allows my son to sit up to the table with us for family dinners. After one child it looks immaculate, and I expect it to look as good after no 2 has used it!

Good adjustable height levels. Quiet easy to clean but have seen easier ones. Good to adjust to table height so baby can sit at table. When baby gets bigger could do with a sliding out tray to make more space to get baby/child in and out.

A comfy highchair - great for young babies because of the recline option. However, the seams on the seat cover undid after only 6 months of use and mamas and papas refused to send another free of charge so...not very long lasting as it cannot really be used without it.

Too many nooks and crannies for bits of food to hide. Difficult to clean - too fussy - who needs the seat to recline? Straps are cumbersome and don't stay on. Fine second hand, but there are much better (ie simpler) options out there.

Durable, bulky, difficult to clean but provides very good support for babies who have just started weaning/sitting up. You can also order replacement cushions if they become worn out. We did this for our 2nd baby. It can be folded away but is quite fiddly to do/undo. Would probably not be my 1st choice if I had to buy a highchair again but has been value for money.

I hate the prima pappa, i am going to sell it and get a completely different highchair. Food gets stuck everywhere in it and it is impossible to clean without taking it outside and getting the hose on it. The harness has to be unscrewed to take it off and clean it. The tray is so high that my baby has her arms up around her neck, but when i pull it up to the table the crotch bar juts out so i can't get it flush to the table. Its heavy and difficult to move and also quite tricky to fold up. A poor desgin and expensive for what it is.

A bit pricier than some you can buy but I have bought another one of these highchairs for DD. We had one originally for DS (now 3y) and like the fact that we can alter height, remove tray and bring DD to our level at table. Also good as reclines (3 position) and useful for first weaning as not relying on baby being able to sit fully upright and slump downwards. Also as can alter height easy for person feeding to alter level so comft for them. My DD often falls asleep in hers so must be comfy too. Padded seat. Wipes clean. Can remove straps for washing (bit awkward but we do this fairly often) Great designs - should find one to match you decor etc. When closed we can put in boot and take to MIL etc. as its simpler for us than buying one for home and one for travel.

This chair is hard to clean. It can take upwards on an hour to clean it properly with the various moveable point but his is going to be a downside to any adjustable chair.
More serious however is the limited life of this chair due to the manufacturer not providing seat covers separately. After about a year the plastic cover cracks and tears and food spilages (and worse) start to rot. The smell of this chair after 18 months is awful and will need to be replaced - by another prima pappa - I think not!Read moreLess
