"Very cute!…"
25-May-2013
When I looked at pictures of this chair, it reminded me of something Batman's enemy would drive to destroy Gotham. Thankfully, in reality, it's a lot smaller and lower- I sit on a dining room chair when feeding baby. It's so cute- doesn't take up much space and you can easily carry it from room to room. I hate those other gaudy chairs- and was looking at the more expensive ones before seeing this one. Just love it!

Brilliant high chair. Works as well for smaller babies (with tray table attached and inflatable insert for support, if required) as it does for toddlers pulled up to the dining table (with tray removed). I even run mine through the dishwasher after particularly messy dinners. My DD is going to be 2 soon and I'm only now thinking about replacing it.

"Perfect! Lightweight, portable, does the job!!…"
20-Mar-2013
I'm on my 3rd child and have never really had a highchair that I loved. We previously had a Chicco Polly which had height adjustability, folded, different trays etc but in a small house it was a total pain to try and lug around and get out of the way.
Got this in Ikea and I love, love, love it! I'd assumed a highchair needed bells and whistles to make it best for baby. Turns out it needs a straightforward design. It's very lightweight (I can hold baby in one had and comfortably carry it in the other) and I can move effortlessly from the dining table when we are all eating together to the living room for daytime feeding to the kitchen where ds loves to sit and play with various toys (spoons!) on the tray.
My baby is 6months and we have used this since 5 months with the blow up insert which supported his back and sides from falling around. We are gradually deflating it as he gets bigger and more able to sit unaided.
The tray slides in to two holes on the top (i havent to date had any issues with getting it in and out unlike another reviewer who had some with hers). There has also been mention of only being a lap belt rather than 5 point. You could do as another reviewer suggested and replace with reins but I haven't had any issues to date so will consider that as he gets older and more manoeuvrable.
The other two main pluses are the price (an absolute fraction of the other top rated high chairs and it's easily as durable and in my eyes much preferable to most of them!) and ability to make it portable. We have clicked out the legs and stuck the whole lot in the boot when going on holiday.
Can't praise this more highly, have recommended to all my friends and have bought two more for mum and mil.
Fab-don't think twice and don't waste your money on fancy features.
Ps don't worry about it "growing with your toddler" ikea have a great raised chair for older kids and the cost of them both put together doesn't even come to the cost of the chairs that grow ;-)Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

"EXCELLENT FOR THE SMALLER SIZED BABY…"

We had to start weaning early due to medical reasons at about 20 weeks. We bought the Chicco highchair for my LO first and she HATED it. She looked like a little mouse and flopped about in it. We then bought the much cheaper Ikea Antilop and its wonderful. The plastic balloon-like insert works a treat to steady her in the sitting position. Its so easy to clean and because its light we can carry it from room to room with ease. It has been designed brilliantly, yet has so much VFM (value for money)!

"Cheap and cheerful…"
24-Sep-2012
My lo is 8 months old now and has been using this for about 2 months. It's easy to clean, and the tray is very easy to take off and on.
This Highchair will last her a long time as there's lots o room in it. As she is small at the moment we bought an inflatable Highchair cushion from ikea (about a fiver I think) for a better fit for now.
It might not be a portable fold up Highchair but we took ours on holiday and it packed up quite small once the legs and tray were taken off.
We are doing baby-led weaning with Pops so she needed to be sat up straight and the Highchair needed to be easy to clean. It is not surprising that this Highchair is the most recommended on the baby led weaning forums.
As it was so cheap we bought another one for Nannys house :)Read moreLessMumsnetter Lucyhas

Mum of 4 has finally discovered great value for money high chair. It looks good, is easy to assemble and therefore to take away for hols etc and is easy to clean. Don't believe the overly engineered highchair speak of some companies. If your child falls asleep in a high char, surely you"d take it out rather than recline or rotate it? Thank you IKEA :-)

We're now using our's for our 4th child. The straps it comes with are too easy to climb out of, so we replaced them with baby reins, using the strap attachments. This was for grandmas house, but is now main chair and the expensive one over there. We found our children could sit up in it more easily than in the adjustable one, it's way easier to clean and pulls up to the table better. Would love to be able to get longer legs, to pull up to breakfast bar.

"Sylish, cheap & so easy to clean…"
08-May-2012
I bought this because it wasn't horribly ugly like so many others on the market and because it was so easy to clean. The only criticism is that the straps can be come loose but this is easy to fix - either tie them together around the back, loop them an extra time on the adjustable stopper or put a knot in each belt. Although it doesn't fold up, it's a very easy to take apart for weekends away or holidays. It's so cheap, we bought a second for my parents so we had one there. For those confident with DIY, it's possible to lower the height by chopping a bit off the tops of the legs and re-fitting the spring clips, which we did so it fitted perfectly under our dining table. Overall it's a triumph of simple, functional design and destined to become a classic.

I really like this highchair and think it is great for younger babies, (6-12months) as it is so easy to clean. I haven't had a problem with DC1 and DC2, but DC3 is 11 months now and can climb out, even with the strap on, so I have to use a harness to keep her in place.

I started off with a really pretty wooden painted high chair from Zara home - sort of traditional style. It looked lovely but it had so many nooks and crannies that I spent the whole time cleaning it. Eventually I gave up and went for this - and it's an absolute winner! Clearing up takes about a tenth of the time. It's also dirt cheap - and you can't argue with that.

I love these hi-chairs. They are superbly made in their simple way, like the distilled essence of higchair'ness. Easy to clean and to transport, since the legs and tray come off. Best ad for it was one frined who replaced a broken down Stokke GBP250 Egg chair with one of these for 6% of the price. So Scandinavian. Why pay more?

I had a fancy schmancy Mamas and Papas recline, padded chair and swapped it in for the Ikea Antilop. I never regretted it. It's easier to store, to clean and to use. Got this as a temporary measure while awaiting a 'plusher' chair being passed down to us. Looks very utilitarian but it fact found it to be excellent. The simple design makes it easy to clean. Also, compact so takes up little space. In the end we never used the fancier designed one and only now at 2 yrs old have moved on the Babydan high chair for a bit more room. Overall excellent value for money.

"I'm not normally the type of person who writes reviews…"
08-May-2011
I'm not normally the type of person who writes reviews (sorry) but after 4 months of using this fantastic highchair I had to add my two pennies worth. I only bought this to use for a few weeks whilst I looked around for a 'better' chair. Ideally I wanted the Cossato or the Bloom to match my lovely minimalist kitchen. I'd read and heard how fantastic this was but given how much I'd be using it I wanted to spend a bit more to get the 'best'. Well I can tell you after using it for all this time it is the best. It is sturdy (the fact that it has 4 legs makes it much safer for my active 8 month old than a Cossato or Bloom both of which I have tried at friends houses and they rock alarmingly), it is so easy to clean (this should be the first consideration for any high chair) it doesn't stain (those seat covers on the more expensive ones really mark) the plastic seems more robust and has no sharp corners (most meals my daughter teeths on the tray edges - she couldn't do this on the other models) and actually the design is far nicer in the flesh than the other two - we have so much baby stuff in the house its nice to have just a plain white and steel chair which blends into the background. The inflatable insert is genius. It means the baby fits snugly inside the chair from really early on. You just let out a bit of the air as they grow until they fit the chair without it (on other chairs my tiny daughter was really wobbly and I had to hold her with one hand whilst trying to feed - not easy. The reason why it is so far down the mumsnet review list is because it cannot be adjusted or stored easily. Frankly unless you are really tight on space you just wouldn't be bothered to fold it up and unfold it 3 times a day. And as the Ikea one is table height I can't see why you would need to adjust it up and down? Basically if you are thinking of buying a more expensive chair please don't. (My friends who have the Bloom and Cossato models really wish they'd bought mine.) Just try this one out for a few weeks and I guarantee you will agree it will be the best baby purchase you have made - regardless of how much of a bargain it is!!

Five months on we're still using it every day and have found it to be great and even better when you take into account value for money. Simple to assemble and easy to store; comfortable for the little man who can sit right up to the table or use the table depending on the circumstances; portable enough to be carried under our buggy too. I can't understand why this isn't rated 10/10 for Value For Money. It has to be the best value baby item I've bought.
It isn't flashy and doesn't have pretty patterns, but it is sleek and well designed. It's very easy to clean, light, doesn't take up much space and is easy to transport by removing the legs. My only real criticism would be that sometimes I struggle to get my son's legs out without the chair coming with him. Others have said that it doesn't recline or adjust in height, but neither of these features are necessary for us.

We've bought this as a second highchair (we already have a Tripp Trapp) to use with visitors' children and to take away on holidays. It comes apart very easily and is ridiculously cheap and incredibly easy to clean. If it wasn't for the fact that it looks so totally out of place in my dining room I would have it as my main highchair.

We bought one of these for my second daughter as we no longer had space for our first highchair, wish we'd bought one of these originally. My daughter sits up really nicely in it, much better than so many chairs that seem to encourage the baby to slouch back. Easy to clean and easy to take when going to others for meals. Please don't spend lots of money on a highchair, this one is brilliant

04-Feb-2010
I got a set of these for my twins for grandparents house and then used them once and knew that I couldn't have anything else in our house either.
So easy to clean, comfortable, good height for table, sturdy, easy to store and v v v cheap! I have 4 sets now, one at each grandparents' house, one in my dining room and one in the kitchen - total cost less than 1 of the 2 wooden chairs I'd had my eye on originally.
I did feel they needed an insert when the babies were smaller - I used an East Coast insert that I got on eBay and it fitted very well and wiped clean each use. At about 8.5 months they sat happily in them for 2 hours in a restaurant without cushions so I stopped using them at home - less to clean.Read moreLessMumsnetter 1stMrsF

Great highchair! Doesn't force the occupant into a reclined position like so many highchairs, doesn't have silly straps that take ages to attach (just a belt) but can survive the best trantrums and attempts by our 20 month old to rock it over (has never come close to tipping up), easy to clean, doesn't look stupid, you can take the tray off for family meals and best of all it comes appart so you can stick it in the car to go to friends houses. And its cheap. What more can you ask??

I have previously had a mothercare padded version and a Stokke type wooden version, but I prefer the IKEA one (and I HATE Ikea generally) - Having spent more of my life than I needed to trying to get dried banana puree off chairs and straps, I love that it is blissfully easy to clean, folds down for trips to grandparents, and costs a pittance. I bought a couple of small red stripey washable cushion from IKEA at the same time so 6 month old is properly supported - He loves it!

This highchair is great. Value for money and our little girl loves it. We don't have a huge kitchen so it fits perfectly. Only downside is we bought the inflatable insert which lasted less than a week. Instead we use a padded insert from a friend which fits great. Easy to clean. I have recommended it to other friends and they too thinks it's a good buy

I don't understand why people pay so much money for an item which is only used for such a small time each day. As long as you have the space to keep it, and you do need to be careful if you have it in the kitchen all the time as its easy to trip over the legs, this is a perfect high chair. Its easy to clean, neutral colour, no babyish designs (I know its for a baby but we don't all want Winne The Pooh etc in our kitchens) - fantastic value all round. I do recommend the tray attachment so you don't always need to be at the table.

I can't recommend this chair highly enough. Easy to clean - I take mine outside and hose it off! Can use with a tray or push up to the table. Legs easily come off so you can throw it in the car and take to a friends. The only downside I can see is the large footprint - if you have a small kitchen then this one probably isn't for you.

Was persuaded by teh ample body of opinion that is MN that this woudl be worth trying - and it was. Cheap as chips and every bit as good as everyine says. East to clean - and easy to take apart if you are going on a trip that necessitates a highchair. You can also buy and inflatable cushion support for little little people. I am now totally indebted to MN for persuading me to go for this and saving me all those lovely pennies that I almost spent on a Tripp trapp!

17-Mar-2008
Fantastic high chair. We had two on the go at one point, then freecycled them and will buy another if we need it.
It's unbreakable. It's unstainable. It's untippable. It's easy to put the child in and hard for them to climb out. It pulls up to the table and has a tray too. I just can't see why any other high chairs are sold for under 18mths, especially the super-folding-reclining-padded monster ones.
The point of a high chair is for a child to learn to eat - which is a seriously messy business. The most important factor, after safety, is cleanability. The Antilop doesn't stain, even weeks-old Weetabix can be scrubbed off with a squirt of bleach. There are no fabrics, corners or crevices to trap splodges of puree and porridge. It's comfortable enough (we used a folded towel behind DS for the first few months), very sturdy and the minimal design doesn't dominate the room.
I'm going to give it full marks for everything except storage, as it doesn't fold. But the folding high chairs have too many disadvantages in my opinion! Adjustability - one size fits all. Comfort - we certainly had no complaints. Storage - legs slide easily out but with luck it could be tucked under a table. VFM - absolutely no competition. Save your money to get a Tripp Trapp when the Antilop is outgrown.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

It cannot be collapsed, but i never used to bother folding my other one down any way, and cannot be adjusted heightwise, but seems ok at my table. DS tends to sit up straight in it, where as he used to slouch and slip down in my other - i probably would not use this for a baby uner 6 months though.

The best present we were bought!!!! It has lasted through 2 children from 5 months to 2 years old and still looks like new. It is easy to clean and it looks modern and chic. It is small, so it fits in even a small dining kitchen and you can use it with the tray or without, so that your baby gets used to sitting at the table with the rest of the family. We originally bought a larger "all singing, all dancing" high chair and had to get rid of it...it was far too bulky, didn't fit in with our furnishing style and was a pig to keep clean. This Ikea highchair is an absolute winner!

It's a simple no frills chair. the best thing about it is that it is so easy to clean. It may not be the loveliest looking but there is nothing for food to get stuck in. The optional tray is really large so offers a good play table. I had a particularly small baby and this was one of the few chairs that she did not slip out of. You can also buy an inflatable insert for 3.00 that you slot in. The two sides and back blow up separatelyb so you can adjust it really easily - as your baby gets bigger you just a let a bit of the air out. I also used this when out and about so that the large highchairs that were usually on offer could be adapted for my small baby. I orignally bought the chair for my nieces when they came to stay and they used it until they were quite old. The legs come off so you can store it fairly easily. It's not so good if you want to put it away at night which i thought would be a problem, but to be honest, my baby spent so much time in it during the day that there was really no need to put it away.

It does everything I wanted - i.e. can be used with or without tray (the tray has raised edges), can be sat up to the dinner table so our baby can eat with us, is hygienic and easy to clean (very few crevices for food to hide in), looks actually quite stylish as it is simple and clean looking in white and silver, and it can be taken apart in a minute just by removing the legs. The only downside are that it doesn't recline (didn't bother us) and it doesn't fold down flat (the legs come off but you are left with the plastic moulded seat to store). That said, it is still pretty portable - we have taken it with us when going to stay with friends as it is so quick to assemble. I would really recommend this highchair and for the price (

We bought ours in Holland, and the price was 11 Euros, complete with straps, and 3 euros for the tray. We don#t use the tray anymore, as the seat fits nicely under our dining table for a more grown up feel. If it doesn't fit under your table, you can easily saw the legs down a bit, then reattach the rubber stabilisers. At this price, its not the end of the world if you make a mess!

I can't believe that the ratings don't include ease of cleaning! That has to be the number one factor for a highchair that gets covered in food three times a day every day. And that is why I love this highchair. My kids have been very comfortable in these, with a padded seat when small and then without from about 9 months. It slots under our dining table, enabling them to sit up with the rest of the family. Also packs away into the boot fairly easily. I wouldn't give house room to anything else.

I SO wish we hadn't bothered buying an expensive wooden highchair - this one, which we originally bought for weekends away, staying with friends etc, is about a million times more practical. It is so much easier to clean - I think you are even supposed to be able to put the tray in the dishwasher. And my daughter is so much happier sitting in it - it seems really comfortable for her, and harder to escape from as there is no footrest for her to push up on. It's minimalist looks are completely inoffensive, the legs come off easily so it is very easy to stick in the car when we go away, and above all else it is so very reasonably priced. We love it!

Just so easy to clean and no awkward corners to trap any parts of the baby. Simple streamlined looks means it fits in and doesn't make your place look cluttered. And very, very cheap. Why spend more when this is so good?
Tip: Don't bother with the seat pads, which cost as much as the high chair and in my case were a waste of time.Read moreLess"A great part timer for grandparents home. The strap is…"

A great part timer for grandparents home. The strap is not very secure so don't leave baby unattended but fantastic value for money, easy to clean. The score ratings do not do this fantastic product justice.

For a small baby, buy the optional blow up cushions. To travel, just remove the legs. This highchair is brilliant - cheap, so easy to clean and compact.

The easiest to keep clean, perfect for an older baby who can sit unaided and unsupported. Trray is big enough to doapinting and craft on. I love this chair, and actually have 2 so one can stay outside in summer.

Buy it - why spend more when this is stylish, easy to clean and apparently indestructable.
