"Beware of this high chair. we bought ours some time…"
24-Jul-2011
Beware of this high chair. we bought ours some time ago and was great until it broke across both legs seemingly due to wear not rough and tumble! it has proved unsafe unfortunatly. it seems possible a design fault as both legs have gone in the same place.

I have the fold up one & am loving it. In use or folded up is really really compact. Apart from the straps is really easy to clean but seems like all straps are impossible to clean. Used with small dd who wasn't great at sitting from 5 months and she loved it.

Great Highchair easy to use and fold away. can be used with and without tray. its more comfortable if you buy a wipe clean insert seat pad to go in seat unit, which they are a good varity of designs to suit you taste.

"Firstly can I point out that there are 2 highchairs…"
12-Dec-2009
Firstly can I point out that there are 2 highchairs called 'East Coast', one where the tray flips over the top in order to use the seat at a table and the other converts into a table and chair. I have the one where the tray flips over. I loved the look of this highchair but I was um-ing and ah-ing about buying it as I had read reviews about the reins being too short. I am so pleased I spoke to the sales assistant before I made my final decision, she explained that lots of people assume that the reins go over the top of the back of the chair but they don't - yes, even with the seat pad in, they come up through the bottom. If you like this chair, don't be put off by the reins, just ask to be shown how the reins fix. I am so glad we bought it, we've only had it a couple of weeks and you wouldn't even notice it's there, it goes so well with the rest of our dining furniture. Our little boy loves sitting in it and banging on the tray, it is easy to wipe clean and should you want to fold it away it folds with the seat pad in very neatly. A great buy that will last for generations and above all, no plastic to be seen :)

An excellent highchair for the price and lasts for years as it converts to a seat. It can be used at the table but also has a tray which many of this type of highchair do not. Looks good but also comfortable for the child. I would suggest buying a cushion otherwise the child can slip and slide around.

Quite a nice looking high chair but not very comfortable for a 6 month old and difficult to find a padded insert to fit. Easy to clean without the tray but a pita to clean if using the tray.
Doesn't fold up for storage.Read moreLessMumsnetter LaDiDaDi

Yes on the downside you do need to use it with the harness as there is no crotch support. However I love it because it works as a stand alone highchair but also as a chair to pull up to the table when we eat as a family by flipping the tray back. It looks great and is fairly compact compared to those huge great plastic things

Looks great and excellent price. But it has a big design fault which the review hasn't mentioned. The harness does not come off which makes cleaning really difficult and there is no bottom section fitting between the legs which means the harness has to be worn or it is extremely unsafe. I would never buy this chair again for that reason.

We chose this nice wooden chair to fit in with our decor, and ok, it's very pretty to look at but our son kept banging his head on the back support and slipping around in the rather wide chair part. We had to go out an buy another (plastic, regrettably) high chair which we chose for his comfort rather than our interiors' style.

This highchair is really simple so looks great ! You have to add an insert when they are really little to make it a bit more comfy. Folds for storage which is very useful.

This highchair looks lovely, and has a removable tray so it can be pulled up to the table. It is comfortable, although my son was well over 6 months before he sat comfortable in it. It also can be used as a chair for an older child. Only downside is the number of crevices that catch dropped food!

I have the East Coast Combination which becomes a table a chair when baby gets older. It needs a booster seat which can be bought separately, but I'm more than happy with mine.

It looks great - I think it would fit in nicely anywhere. All my pals have plastic chairs and have admired this one. I bought an M&P insert as without it's just too uncomfortable for a smaller baby. Folds away just fine. One downside is that the high chair toys with suction pads do not stick on well. We solved this with a circle of sticky backed plastic on the tray.

This is a great high chair. It will be useable for years as it also becomes a stool, and because it is wooden we leave it up with the dining room table without it looking out of place or garish. Its easily wipeable, no horrible ridges for food to get stuck in.
The only thing I can fault in it is that the tray, although 'adjustable' has to be unscrewed for said adjustment, and I would have prefered it to just flip up and over.
Aside from that small point its fab, and we love it!Read moreLess"Looks lovely and converts into a little table and chair…"

Looks lovely and converts into a little table and chair set. We wanted something wooden not plastic as it has to live in our sitting room. Tray is removable.

Heavy to manoeuvre, screwed-on straps are hard to remove and wash, ditto the tray. Lots of hard-to-clean crevices to catch food. Looks good but only if you're REALLY good at cleaning.

This is a good high chair, in that it can later be used as a table and chair, but it has one terrible flaw.
The wood is just bare, no laminate/varnish so food just stcks to it and fluid soaks in and stains it.
I'ts very unhygenic and mines always sitting in the bath soaking in washing up liquid and vinegar.
They should have used rubberwood or something. Very dissapointed with mine.Read moreLess"I got this totally wrong. The straps are a nightmare,…"

I got this totally wrong. The straps are a nightmare, the seat is pale cotton and gets caked in food after every mealtime, it's awkward to manouvre... I would go for the Ikea one if I did it again.
