Ickworth House "a beautiful building with beautiful decor in a beautiful location." Everyone thought it "fabulously stylish" and "totally child/baby friendly." The service was very highly rated: "Nothing is too much trouble" and there's lots to do from cycling to horse riding to swimming: "The kids will have a ball." The "restaurants are lovely" too. Of course none of this comes cheap but if you can afford it Mumsnetters agree "this is the just the place for a luxurious, relaxing and stress-free weekend break." Mumsnet tip: "Check out the cottages slightly away from the main house which are charming and less pricey."

location Near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
price * Standard double rooms with dinner and breakfast are available from £180 per room per night. Children staying in their parents rooms are free of charge, paying only for meals. On weekends, only two night bookings are accepted.
creche / kids clubs The Four Bear's Den for babies to eight year olds is supervised by nannies from 10am to 5pm (excluding mealtimes) every day.
special facilities for kids CLUB/BLU is an unsupervised den for older children and has table tennis, table-top foorball, Playstation, X-box and computer. Hotel bikes, adventure playground and nature trails. Children's menu and high tea are available. You can request family rooms, z beds and travel cots with bedding and some interconnecting rooms. Baby listening.
facilities Pool and spa, outdoor tennis courts, bowls, croquet and riding. A fine dining restaurant and café.
