Small Pack, Big Difference
Unilever makes some of the UK's most well-known and well-loved brands including Sure, Persil, Hellmann's, Magnum, PG tips, Dove and many more.
What Unilever has to say
Unilever wants its brands to help create a bright future. It believes there's never been a better time to drive positive change in our world and this year, in the run up to global climate talks in Paris, it's focusing on the issues of climate change and deforestation.
Climate Change is a big global issue but we can all take small actions, that fit into our everyday lives, to make a real difference - especially when you consider that 58% of the greenhouse gas impact on our planet comes from the home.
Persil Small and Mighty
Unilever is committed to making products that are kind to the planet. Not only that, it wants to make the choice of sustainability an easy one for busy families. Washing and drying clothes is an inevitable part of everyday life and there are some easy steps that we can all take to reduce our impact on the planet. Just making some simple changes to the ways in which we do that everyday chore can really make a difference.
We all know the three eco-essentials for laundry: washing in a cooler temperature, only switching on your washing machine when it's full (but not too full!) and only using the tumble dryer when drying outside is not possible. So lets make sure we do them, and live in the knowledge that these small actions may help create a bright future.
Choosing Persil is a great start because Persil Small and Mighty - which launched in 2007 - is a third of the size it used to be, but it still gives the exact same number of washes. This innovative detergent uses 40% less packaging and only requires a third of the water. This means there's less waste involved and a smaller amount of greenhouse gases released for every bottle used. This might not sound a lot, but if everyone made the choice to switch to concentrates, there is a potential to save in excess of 33 million litres of water and 665 tonnes of CO2 a year. That's a mighty big change for one small choice!
