A Better summer holiday for children

Here's an affordable, hassle-free solution to keeping the kids active and entertained during the summer holidays. Better leisure centres offer a fantastic range of holiday programmes designed to keep your kids entertained and active over the summer months.

What's on offer?

From Ofsted registered play schemes for toddlers to weekly, coached sports sessions for teenagers, you're bound to find something to keep your child busy over the summer period.

Alternatively, for activities that engage the mind rather than the body, take a look at the selection of activities that Better libraries have on offer. From the summer reading challenge to art and craft classes, the options are endless.

Holiday Play Scheme

If you're looking for a fully supervised programme that combines a range of activities then the Better Holiday Playscheme could be the answer, providing an all day programme from Monday to Friday for children aged five years and above. At some centres there's even an early drop off and late pick up on offer, perfect for busy parents.

The daily programmes are carefully planned by the holiday activities instructors to make sure your child has an enjoyable day of sports, activities and learning. Children are grouped according to age, interests and ability.

Football

A new and unique curriculum for children is designed to put fun at the centre of learning and education at the forefront of the coaching. Players are taught the four core technical principles; control, passing, shooting and dribbling. Regardless of experience, every child will get individual attention and tailored coaching to help them achieve their own personal goals.

Swimming

Your kids can make a splash this summer at one of the many Better swimming courses on offer. Not only is swimming a fun thing to do and a great way to keep fit and healthy, it's also an essential life skill and it's crucial for children to learn how to be safe in the water. With Better's water-based facilities spanning everything from the 2012 Olympic London Aquatics Centre, to slides and flumes and outdoor lidos, there's a fantastic range of options to choose from.

Athletics

With the Commonwealth Games on the horizon, fast track the kids onto a Better athletics course. Better's holiday programmes cover the core foundations to all sport: balance, co-ordination and agility. They're designed to be educational but fun, introducing participants to various field and track events.

Tennis

If Wimbledon has inspired your family to pick up a racket this summer, give a summer tennis session a go. Better's qualified tennis coaches are on hand to provide an easy introduction to the sport, or help experienced players perfect their lobs, volleys and smashes.

Basketball

The Basketball courses at Better are some of the best in the country and Better has partnered up with the London School of Basketball to give everyone a chance to learn from the pros. With coaching from some of the UK's top Basketball talent, the courses are the perfect introduction to this fast paced, exciting sport.
