And finally, our friends at the Woodland Trust kindly provided us with printable activities to encourage families to get involved in its Nature Detectives initiative.
The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity and one of the ways in which it engages children and families is through its fantastic Nature Detectives website, which has more than 1,000 games and activities designed to get kids outdoors.
From den-building to snail-racing, it aims to turn couch potatoes into ultimate adventurers. All of its activities are designed to be downloaded and shared, and you can even get free seasonal play packs and themed activity packs, such as minibeasts and pond dipping.
If you want to go one step further, join 30,000 members of the Nature Detectives club and you'll receive activity packs through the post and a nature challenge email every Friday, bursting with games, spotter sheets, crafts and ideas.
