Does my child's nursery use the EYFS curriculum?
All children in England who go to nurseries, pre-schools and reception classes will be following a curriculum called the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Children who are with registered childminders will also be doing the EYFS curriculum. Remember though, that this is a play-based curriculum, so your child will be learning mainly through play and traditional activities such as cooking or having stories read to them.
What is play-based learning?
For many years, it has been recognised that when children play, they are actually learning. Play seems to be a practical way of helping children to develop skills and knowledge.
For play to be effective, children need different types of play opportunities. Play also needs to be organised by adults in a range of ways.
