• 1 ready-made sweet pastry case or 1 packet of digestive biscuits and 100g butter

  • 150ml whipping cream

  • 1 bar of flake chocolate crushed

If you're making the biscuit base, smash the digestive biscuits by putting them in a plastic bag and hitting with a rolling pin or putting them in a food processor and whizz.

Melt the butter in a large pot and stir in the crushed biscuits. Line a flan tray with the biscuits and chill.

Alternatively unwrap a sweet pastry case and place on a plate.

Put the unopened tin of condensed milk into a pan of water and boil for 1 1/2 hours. Keep checking water the level and top up as needed to ensure the tin is covered with water.

Switch off after 90 minutes and allow to cool. Open the tin and spread the toffee over the biscuit or pastry base.

Slice the bananas onto the layer of toffee.

Whip the cream and spread onto the bananas.

Sprinkle the crushed flake on top and chill the banoffee pie before serving.

This beats any banofee pie I have ever had in a pub or restaurant and makes you feel like a real chef.
