  • 1 onion diced

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 2 tins chopped tomato

  • 450ml chicken or vegetable stock

  • 1 tsp dried basil

  • 2 cloves garlic crushed

  • 2 tsp dried Italian seasoning

  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 splash red or white wine (optional)


<ol> <li>Fry the onion and garlic together until soft but not browned.</li> <li>Add the tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning, sugar and stock and heat on medium to high for 10 minutes, stirring very occasionally.</li> <li>Uncover and increase heat further to reduce sauce to desired consistency stirring every now and again. This should take a further 5 minutes or so.</li> </ol>
