Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 large onion

  • 1 tin chopped tomato

  • 0.25 tsp mustard

  • 2 slices bacon

  • 1 tin borlotti beans

  • 2 sausages, (optional)

  • 1 tin kidney beans

  • 0.25 tsp chilli powder

Method

  1. Brown onions in pan with a little oil.
  2. Add brown sugar, chilli powder, sugar and mustard, stir well.
  3. Add tinned tomatoes.
  4. Add bacon and sausage (optional).
  5. Drain and rinse beans, add, and stir well.
  6. Cook for 30 minutes.

Handy Hint

Other types of beans can be added.
A dash of Worcester sauce gives it a nice zing.
Can be cooked in the slow cooker, in which case add beans 30 minutes before serving.
