Meatballs with herb potatoes

  • 1 tbsp tomato puree

  • 1 red onion, chopped

  • 1/2 pints beef stock

  • 4-5 potatoes, cubed

  • 2 tsp fresh, or dried Italian herbs

  • 250ml Worcestershire sauce

  • 6 mushrooms, chopped up small

  • 300g beef meatballs, one packet, or make your own


  1. Brown the onion in a little oil and then add the meatballs and brown them too.
  2. Add the mushrooms and cook for a few minutes, then stir in the tomato purée and cook for another few minutes.
  3. Add the potatoes and sprinkle over the herbs. Add wine and stock.
  4. Bring to the boil and simmer until almost all the liquid has gone.
  5. Serve with green veg.
