  • 115g butter

  • 115g brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp golden syrup

  • 1 tsp ginger (or 1/2 tsp nutmeg or 1 tsp cinnamon)

  • 170g oats (jumbo or a combination)

  • 1 large cooking apple peeled and cored (or 2 medium dessert apples)


<ol> <li>Melt the butter, sugar, and syrup together in a large saucepan.</li> <li>Then, add the oats and the spices and mix well. Put half the mixture into a 7inch square brownie tin, then grate the apples over the top.</li> <li>Cover with the remaining half of the mixture and cook at 160C for about 35 minutes, longer if you like it crunchy.</li> </ol>
