Ingredients

  • 1 pinch salt and pepper

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 1 tsp tomato puree

  • 1 tsp caster sugar

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 200ml beef stock

  • 1 tsp cornflour

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 drop Worcestershire sauce

  • 4 minute steaks

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan, add the sliced onion and cook for 6-7 mins until brown.
  2. Stir in sugar and a tablespoon of water and heat until evaporated. Stir in the beef stock, cornflower, Worcester sauce and tomato puree cook for 2-3 mins until thickened - season with salt and pepper. Put to one side.
  3. Heat a little more oil in the frying pan, season steaks and fry for 1-2 mins on each side.
  4. Serve with the gravy.
