  • 1 pinch salt and pepper (to taste)

  • 1 onion (to taste)

  • 150ml water

  • 2-3 potatoes mashed

  • 2 tsp cornflour heaped

  • 1 handful carrot grated (optional)

  • 1 OXO cube

  • 1 tsp bovril or marmite (to taste)

  • 450g beef mince

  • 1 handful mushrooms (optional)


<ol> <li>Brown mince and then drain fat off.</li> <li>Add the water, then onions/mushrooms.</li> <li>Add OXO cube.</li> <li>Stir until onions/mushrooms softened.</li> <li>Add Bovril/Marmite.</li> <li>Stir in and taste until you're happy with beefiness.</li> <li>Add cornflour mixed with water to thicken gravy.</li> <li>Pour into ovenproof dish and cover with mashed potato.</li> <li>Cover potatoes with cheese if desired.</li> <li>Cook until mash has crispy top.</li> <li>Serve with runner beans, baked beans or anything you like.</li> </ol>

Handy Hint

<p>Get potatoes boiling and softened ready for mince as it doesn't take long for mince to cook. Add egg, milk, butter, salt and pepper if required to mash.</p>

    this is quick easy and very beefy. it is also a cheap dish specially for me i got 5 kids at home 6 when my eldest over and 2lb of mince at 98p a tub few onions etc works out cheap for me for a family meal,check out your supermarkes deals on mince or stick to the one you normally use either way this is a satisfing dish,my hubby n kids love it!!!
