Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped (large)

  • 1 tin chopped tomato

  • 1 1/2 pints boiling water

  • 1 celery stick, chopped

  • 600g lean minced beef

  • 1 tbsp cornflour

  • 2 carrot, peeled and chopped

  • 2 beef stock cubes

Method

  1. Empty all ingredients into slow cooker except for stock cubes, water and cornflour.
  2. Crumble stock cubes into water, mix and pour over meat mixture.
  3. Cook on high for 5 hours or medium for 8 hours. An hour before serving, add 2 tablespoons of cold water to cornflour and add to meat in slowcooker, stirring well.

    This creates beautifully tender meat and very tasty sauce which can be used as a base for many dishes.
