Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp tomato puree

  • 300ml double cream

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 4 slices ham, good-quality

  • 4 pork steaks

  • 4 slices Red Leicester

Method

  1. Put the oven on at 200C. Place steaks between greaseproof/baking paper and bash them until thin, (I use a rolling pin - good for venting anger).
  2. Place them in the bottom of an ovenproof dish
    cover them with a layer of sliced ham, then with a layer of thinly sliced cheese, press down with your hands.
  3. Cook in the middle of the oven for 20 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile mix sugar, tomato puree and a spoonful of the cream, then gradually add the rest of the cream.
  5. After 20 minutes take the steaks out of the oven, pour over the cream mixture and return to the oven for another 10 minutes.

Handy Hint

A tasty meal easy to prepare beforehand and quick to cook because the steaks are thin. Extra tasty with homemade croutons sprinkled on the top just before serving.
