Ingredients

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 10ml tomato puree

  • 20ml oil

  • 2 1/2ml turmeric

  • 10ml garam masala

  • 6fl oz water

  • 20ml soy sauce

  • 1 7cm ginger, peeled and grated

  • 5ml mustard seeds

  • 1 1/2lb white cabbage, shredded

  • 8 cloves

  • 5ml cumin seeds

  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped

  • 8 peppercorns

  • 2 1/2ml chilli powder

Method

  1. Fry the seeds in oil for 2 minutes.
  2. Add everything else except the cabbage and the water and stir for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the cabbage and stir to cook in the sauce.
  4. Add the water and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
